My surgeon is John Monk. I really like him from the frist time I met him. It also help that his father delivered me. Also my mother is a nurse and she had the pleasure to work with him and he has one of best bed side manners she has seen and for me that is a big plus in my book. His staff were wondeerful they treated me like i was the most important person in the office. You should also know that Dr Monk is up front with you and tells you the truth and doesn't hide the truth about things.as for the after care from surgery i will have to let you know
Dr. Monk and his staff are the greatest. They go out of their way to help, comfort and provide answers to all your questions. I highly recommend him for any surgery you might need.
Dr Monk was and is very thorough in evaluating you as a candidate for the surgery and providing you with info on risks, aftercare, and possible side effects and long term effects. Info on aftercare and any other general questions are also provided by the Support Group. They are open, candid, and honest with suggestions and emotional support. You don't feel alone. I know they will be there for me and I look forward to being there for future patients as well.
I feel bedside manner is just as important as surgical skill. A feeling of confidence and that I matter to him is just as important to me as his skill. If I felt uncomfortable and ill at ease, I don't think I would fare as well in the long run. I feel at peace knowing he is a good surgeon who cares deeply about his work and his patients. It is also very important to me that he is a Christian man and open about his faith. I like that and feel comforted by it.
Dr. Monk was very nice. He was informative, well mannered, and willing to please. One thing that made me feel good about this procedure was the way he, and my family doctor expressed there happiness with my decision to persue this course of action. I just keep waiting for a doctor, nurse, or other medical staff to cast shame or guilt at me for my lack of willpower. So far, it has been the total opposite. Dr. Monk's staff have been excellent, as he, himself has been. I would have to rate him as a 10.
I really liked him from the start,he was helpful and not critical, my impression of him has only gotten better, his staff treated me OK I really liked his nurse Sue. She was quite nice, as far as the lady who handled insurance she tried to get it through but failed. He makes you have the tests associated with this surgery and makes sure that it is something you want to do and does tell you all the risks and answeres any questions you may have. He does emphazise things that can and do go wrong, and follow up care is a necessary thing.I only pray somehow I can have this surgery done, I do know people who have had it, and say they would do it over in a heartbeat. I think bedside manner is very important as is comptence of course. I have not had surgery yet and was hoping we would have had more persistance with the insurance company.
My first impression of Dr. Monk was that of compassion and professionalism. He really is very knowledgeable and CARES about his patients. He has been a big deciding factor in this decision.
He was upfront with me from the beginning until the present time of the benefits and the risks involved with this procedure. I have seen him 3 times so far and he has always answered all of my questions.
I had my first consultation on May 1st (2001). Dr. Monk was on time and was very compassionate re: my situation.
I appreciated the fact that he took the time to LISTEN to me- which can be a hard quality to come by in a doctor.
He was very observant to any physical troubles (although minor) I had during my physical exam with him.
I have another appointment in three weeks and will update more at that time.
My first impression of Dr.Monk was that he was in a hurry and didn`t want to answer any questions I had, but he did. All in all I found him to be kinda funny and a good guy, I trust him and I feel confident that he will do a good job and bring me through this safely.
I think his office staff are really nice they were helpful to me in letting me know what to expect as far as the insurance company goes.
I`ll write more after I have the surgery and let you know how he was then.
I have only met Dr. Monk Once, but he seems very nice.
Dr. Monks office staff was very professional, and courtious.
Dr. Monk was strait forward about the pro's and con's of the operation, he was very honest and encouraged me to check out the internet to research the Gastric Bypass operation.
Dr. Monk seems to be very concerned with my well being and explained how i will continue to see him well after the surgery. (Once a year for life).
