DR BALLIRO IS VERY KNOWLEDGABLE ABOUT BARIATRIC SURGERY.SINCE I AM IN THE MEDICAL FIELD I WAS ABLE TO DISCUSS MY PLAN OF CARE AND EXPECTATIONS WITH HIM.HE IS A LITTLE ABRUPT BUT WHAT BUSY PERSON ISN'T?I DIDN'T SIGN UP FOR A WARM AND FUZZY FEELING,I WOULD RATHER HE BE EXPERIENCED.AS I HAVE NOT YET HAD MY SURGERY I DON'T HAVE A PERSONAL OPINION OF HIS AFTERCARE.I HAVE TAKEN CARE OF SOME OF HIS PATIENTS AND BELIEVE HIM TO BE UP TO DATE ON ALL OF THE LATEST MEDICAL TREATMENTS.HE IS AN ADVOCATE FOR PATIENT PAIN MGMT.ALL IN ALL A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE.
Dr. Balliro is truly amazing. He thoroughly explained the procedure to me. He also answered my questions--I had 5 pages worth. No, he is not there to "visit," and he is very matter-of-fact. I did not intend to make a buddy, however, and his surgical acumen is astounding. He eats, sleeps, breathes and lives this procedure. I'd choose him again, and I've recommended him to several friends.
He was very thourough in the initial consultation. He spent over an hour with me & my husband. He is a very busy man and most of my follow ups are brief, but productive. He gets to the point and lets you go. The staff are all very helpful. Dr. Balliro insists his patients have nutritional guidence, and Lynn is so Great!! My next visit will be my last scheduled one and I'm dreading it. I will miss them all. I was made aware of all the risks of surgery, but I knew all the risks of not having it were more likely. He is an excellent surgeon and I would (and do) recommend him to anyone that is serious about changing their life for the better. I think the only thing I could say negative is that he is not available as often as I would like. But he does have a practice in another state. I hope he doesn't spread hisself too thin and burn out. It would be a great loss.
My first impression of Dr. Balliro was really good. I had heard he was a very good Dr. but was very straight forward and to the point. But, my experience unlike that. He was very direct about the procedure and what was needed from me, but he did have a very likeable personality. Maybe I just caught him on a good day. His staff was more than helpful and very nice. They said they would followup with all the paperwork and let me know whenever they had a answer from my insurance company. Dr. Balliro has 2 practices one here in Tallahassee, FL., and one in Wy. He has been doing this a very long time and seems to really care about each patient. He does emphasize aftercare. Meeting with a dietician is mandatory with his program, for 1 year after your surgery. Overall all I would rate him very high, for surgical competence and bedside manner.
Dr. Balliro is an EXCELLENT surgeon. I absolutely love him. He has a very dry wit, and definitely does not coddle his patients. So, if you want to be pampered and mothered, you probably want to find another surgeon. He's great, is a good motivator, tells it like it is, both good and bad. He doesn't sugar coat anything, but just puts it out there. I like that.
I've only seen him once since surgery 15 months ago, for a minor problem. He's a phone call away and I know that. If I'd needed him more, I'm sure he would have seen me. I have absoutely no complaints against Dr. Balliro.
I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Balliro. He is a brilliant and experienced surgeon, funny and laid-back. He cares very much about his patients and will make sure you get the best of care. All of the nurses on my floor respected him and knew that they had to be on their toes with my care. He's not a hand-holder or "warm and fuzzy" but he is very nice and made me feel like the only patient he had at the time. He was very responsive to the call he got from the charge nurse about my negative side effects of dilaudid and changed my drugs accordingly. I really feel I got the best possible care.
