Dr. Irani is a very nice person who makes you feel very comfortable and his staff goes over and over the benefits and risks associated with
this surgery.
His office was quite busy when I met him the first time. I waited for almost an hour after my scheduled appt for my physical exam. His office staff did say that they were short 3 people that day and apologized for any inconveniences.
I only saw Dr. Irani for a few minutes, as his staff performed some tests, and his P.A. did the physical exam. His staff was friendly and informative about the surgery. Several brochures were shown to me and all of my questions were answered. My wife was obviously more relaxed about the surgery after we left his office.
Aftercare is a priority in Dr. Irani's practice. All patients must go through an introduction meeting, Pre-op meeting, dietician meetings, psychological exam.
Post-op patients are required to attend meetings after the surgery. San Joaquin Community Hospital is where Dr. Irani performs the surgeries and the hospitals Bariatric Solutions assists patients with any needs or questions.
My primary Physician gave Dr. Irani a huge compliment. She told me that if she had to have surgery, that she would let Dr. Irani operate on her. I think most Physicians know about their colleagues reputations, so this was a big plus for me anyways.
I do not have a surgery date at present, but I am told by other people that Dr. Irani is a
VERY competent surgeon and has a wonderful bedside manner, (something that has gotten rare these days)? So he has both!
Just my thoughts, Mark H.
Very concerned, caring, no change in that impression. The office staff is very nice and seem to care about each individual. Sometimes the wait in office is a bit long, but since I work for a doctor, I know how that goes:) There is nothing to dislike about Dr. Irani, although I saw his associate for my first post op visit, rather than him. Know that he cares about the PERSON, not just the patient. Very emphatic about all aspects of aftercare. Insists you attend at least 8 group sessions. All risks of surgery were adressed verbally and in writing. On a scale from 1 to 10, Dr. Irani is a 15! He is a superbly skilled surgeon with wonderful hands, and has a GREAT bedside manner. These are my own personal statements about my experience with Dr. Irani and I am not making any statements about what others may have experienced.
Dr. Irani performed hernia surgery on my husband in Dec 03 & we couldn't have asked for a better person to have performed his surgery.
He hasn't been doing gastric bypass surgery very long but as far as a surgeon goes you don't get much better. My personal physician speaks very highly of his skills & bed-side manners & this means alot to me. I was a bit skeptical at first but after meeting with him I had no doubt that he was the right surgeon for me.
I didn't really get to talk to the Dr. that much. I dealt with his assistant for the whole visit except for the last 2 or 3 minutes. He seemed nice but I can't say more than that because I didn't see him long enough. His assistant (I feel so bad I can't remember his name) was very nice and very helpful. He answered every question I had and even some I didn't. I also loved talking to the ladies in the office because they have such great personalities. All in all, if he's anything like his staff then he must be great.
Thank you Dr. Irani. I can not believe how good I am starting to feel.My husband and I were very impressed with the time you have taken to be sure all of our questions were answered. The knowledge base of you and your staff is excellent. You have brought to your practice a very caring and efficient group of employees. I don't think any of your patients, myself included, could be in better hands. Again, thank-you.
I was happy with Dr. Irani. He was very informative. His office staff has been friendly and helpful as well.
I was concerned that he would have an accent that I couldn't understand, but he was clear and easy to understand. (sounds strange but i think that is a huge concern for any of us that have had a Dr who was hard to understand...not knowing what the Dr is talking about is dangerous...this is my health I am talking about!) So I was pleased with that aspect.
He brought up dangers of the surgery, such as complications like leakage. He described how the srugery is performed as well.
I was pleased with him and am crossing my fingers that he has made a good case for my insurance co.
