My first impression of Dr. Thomas was a kind softspoken person who was sincerely concerned for his patients. My impression has not changed. 5 mons. after surgery and he continues to the same person, not just someone who was looking for a patient to make money off of. Above all he wanted me to be completely informed about the surgery, what to expect and the risks involved. His office staff is very nice. I highly recommend him if you are looking for a surgeon to perform gastric bypass. If you do what he instructs you to do and take care of yourself afterwards, you will be well pleased with the results. He has a support group that meets every month and he is an advocate of these meetings and I agree. We need the support of those around us who have been there and done that. It helps to be able to ask questions and be assured that you are not the only one having difficulties. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate him an 11. It's hard to find a M.D. who has surgical competence and a excellent bedside manner and he really does.

Well, I have filled out my application and am ready to send it off. Dr. Thomas seems like he is the answer to all of my questions. He's in my network and the Hospital is too. I haven't met him yet but I've got my foot in the door. I have been contacting his coordinator and he has been verrry helpful with everything. I will be setting an appointment with him shortly.

All of my contact has been with Phil Anderson of the "Tomorrow's Weigh" program at Nacodoches Medical Center. Phil acts as a liason between Dr. Thomas' office and the hospital. Phil is a great guy and is a wealth of information. He sent my paperwork to the insurance company on the 21st of November and I was approved by the 13th of December. I have an appointment to meet with Dr. Thomas on the second of January, 2003 for a consult and to schedule my surgery date.

My first impression of Dr. Thomas, was very down to earth. My impression has not changed. The office staff has been great. I have no compliants.

Future patients should know that he is honest, well informed, and wants you to be as well. I think warm and honest.

He emphasize that this is a life long journey.

I would rate him to be a very good surgeon.

Excellent bedside manner. Willing to work with me even though I live in Dallas. Informative. Office staff helpful.
Monthly post-op "social" meetings are required.

I was pleased to see/hear that he was soft spoken and confident. He really cares about his patients.
It hasn't.
Efficient and friendly.
the fact that he continues to go over the good and bad of the surgery...nothing hidden.
that he is pushing the new lap band surgery for safety reasons.
Asks for a committment to the support group.
Not sure yet...haven't had the suregery yet.
Dr. Thomas has been a 10 on my list!
Surgical competence is a must...I feel secure in that area...we'll see at the hospital...

I met with Dr. Thomas in December 7, 2001. His office staff was very friendly and helpful. I was very comfortable talking to Dr. Thomas. He gave me a lot of information including all the risks of having surgery. His interest is in doing the least invasive type of surgery, which I thought was best. He seems like a very skilled surgeon when it comes to lap surgery. He stresses aftercare and support groups. He insisted on them. There is a aftercare program that has monthly meetings. On a scale of 1 to 10, right now, I'd have to rate him an 8. If i get insurance approval, I'm sure the rating of Dr. Thomas will go up. I hope to be hearing good news from his office soon.

Well, I'm a post-op now! Seems hard to believe! Dr. Thomas was wonderful. He did a magnificent job and I had very little pain at all. I had previous surgeries and he wasn't sure of the adhesions I would have. Apparently they wasn't too bad as he made 5 small incisions all in a small circle. Had the adhesions been a problem, he thought he would have to make more, but he didn't have to. I credit this to his expertise of doing lap type surgeries so well!! I'd highly recommend him as a surgeron to anyone considering the surgery! I definitely rate him a 10!!

Wow! I wish there were doctors out there like Dr. Thomas. What impressed me the most was the time that he took to answer all of my questions (no matter how inane). By the time that I walked out of his office, I really felt like I'm going to receive the best possible care. The office staff were great, too. It's so important to have people there who make you feel like you are the center of their interest...not just another form.

There is nothing that I can say about him that is negative. I've had really bad doctors or ones that do the old rubber stamp routine (hmo), but this is definitely not one of them.

Any future patients should make sure that they ask any and all questions that they have...no matter how unimportant you might think they are, if you have them, they matter.

While it doesn't yet affect me, there is a very strong aftercare network w/Dr. Thomas and that's really important to me. I don't want to go down in flames like all of my diet failures have.

Dr. Thomas was very upfront about the risks.

Overall, I have to say that Dr. Thomas has got to be one of the best doctors that I've seen in a long, long time. One of the things that impressed me about him was his empathy. He genuinely understands the pain, both physically and mentally, of this issue.

Both surgical competence and bedside manner are important...although I'd definitely take the competence over the manner. You can be rude as heck and be the best surgeon on this planet. Just because you're a nice guy doesn't mean that you can tell a kidney from a liver! It's nice, though, when you feel like you're doctor has both!

This survey says that no one is 100% perfect. While this is true, I can't give a negative review for anything when my impression was so positive.

My first impression was a very good one. I had already done my homework so I had very few questions other then when can we schedule it!!!! But he was very willing to discuss any and all concerns I may have had. I liked him right from the get go and am looking foreward to very happy and sucessful doctor patient relationship with him. The only thing I am somewhay leary of is the fact that he has only performed 10 of these operations. But I am anxious to be #11. Do wish he had more experience, but feel confident. My family is not near as confident as I am due to the limited number of surgeries he has done.

Dr. Thomas made a very good first impression he is very professional and also very nice.

He has done surgery on my husband twice, my daughter once and myself once before. I wouldn't want to use anyone else.

His office staff are professional and dedicated. They were very good to me, alot of help with the insurance co.

He is alittle to honest for my taste unlike most people I sort of like vague it is less frightening.

He did everything he could to help and he seems unwilling take chances with my health.

Dr Thomas very strongly emphasizes aftercare. In fact I had to agree to a one year aftercare program before he would agree to do the surgery. This aftercare program is tied in with the aftercare program provided by Medical Center Hospital and is run by a fine RN named Susi Tyson.

Dr. Thomas was very open and honest about all the risk involved with this surgery and went over all of them with me point by point.

If I had to rate Dr. Thomas on a scale of one to ten with ten being the highest I would give Dr. Thomas a ten.

In my opinion I feel that both Dr. Thomas' surgical competence and his bedside manner are great. He has been very open and honest with me and has also successfully operated on me before. He has also been helpful to me by very nicely making it impossible for me to continue lying to myself about my condition.
