Dr Salvino was a very informed surgerant who has worked in this feild for 14years and has studied severe obesity and the diffent methods of surgery out their today! His program and his team of staff is informitve on how to help you achieve your goal, and works with you over a 12 year period of time. He has made a study of his success rate over his 14 years in this feild. His program is very structured, before your surgery and afterwards.Dr Salvino dose not hide any of the faxs or question you may have he is very open and canner about everything you have questions to. He will also may sure if you need a plastic surgon, that they are broad certificated.I have meet everyone on his staff and they were warm, friendly, caring and understanding. I would like to Thank each and everyone for their patients and understanding, making my experience wonderful and postive. Dr Salvino has talked to Insurance companies into changing their mines on this type of surgery, as a medical need for people!

I met Dr. Salvino at a WLS seminar this week. I liked him right away! He was very thorough in explaining the procedures before and after the surgery. He also had a nurse and dietitian that answered a few questions. In addition, there were two post surgical people there, one of which was just 3 months out. It was nice to see a "real" person who made it through! :)

Dr. Salvino's program very much stresses the importance of excerise, both before and after surgery.

I have an appointment with Dr. Salvino on Feb 8th, I will post more feedback then.

Aug 17`Had a visit at American Surgical Obesity Institute with Dr. Salvino~ The program offered there is a multi-disciplined team approach to Morbid Obesity both pre-op and post-op.The visit lasted 5 hours which consisted of one hour visits with each of the following disciplines~1) Nurse and coordinator Carol Bax who gathers info and educates you to their program and talks in length regarding the surgery etc. 2) Dr. Salvino,,very professional yet very friendly..we talked in length about the type of surgeries he offers,pre-op tests and what is expected of me. We talked about all the post-op aftercare, risks of surgery and what is expected of me to follow through with my weight loss.He was very impressed that I had alot of my medical info and questions in hand at this appt. 3)Nutritionist~ To discuss the importance of nutrition both pre-op and post-op..I was started on a practice diet pre-op to get use to the eating habit changes that willtake place post-op. A Physical Therapist~ To start an excercise routine pre-op to build stronger pulmonary functions and reduce surgical risks. A Clinical Psychologist~ DR. Liz is the greatest and so easy to talk to that my husband even conversed with her. She makes you feel comfortable no matter the subject~~ALL of these multi-disciplines of staff with this program are put into place BEFORE SURGERY to give you a solid foundation before surgery so that your chances of weight loss sucess are VERY good. It continues post-op and I feel as long as I am giving it my all that with this type of support along with my family,,I WILL SUCCEED!

My first impression of Dr. Salvino was that he was very informative & very nice. The staff was great. They each answered any questions that I had. They have a very structered program. You meet with a nurse, psychologist, dietician, & exercise psyiologist. Exercise is Dr. Salvino's main concern. You must exercise before your surgery to help get your heart in shape for your surgery. He stress' that this is VERY important. Overall I would rate Dr. Salvino & his staff a "10".

Dr. Salvino and his team were fantastic. I especially liked that he took a precautionary approach to the surgery. I was expected to exercise 5 days a week prior to the surgery to gain a healthier heart. He also has a team which includes a nutritionist, exercise physiologist and psychologist with whom you meet 2 times before the surgery and again post-op for direction in nutrition and exercise. He is also the head of Trauma at Good Samaritan hospital in Downers Grove where I had the surgery. That certainly helped!!!

So far the surgeon and staff have been very professional and curteous. They have a very "team" approach with nutrition, psych, exercise physiologist and surgeon.

I met with Dr. Salvino and his staff on Thursday, Sept. 14th. Dr. Salvino is a no-nonsense kind of guy. If you are not willing to work to meet goals set forth, you will not have the surgery. I was impressed with this approach, after all, this is a life style change.
I met with Dr. Liz, who is the psychologist. I am a binge eater. Dr. Liz suggested some ways for me to go in another direction.
There are two Carol's in the office. One is a dietician who explained an eating plan for me to follow and to eat 3 small meals and 3 small snacks each day, as well as keeping a journal of my progress.
The other Carol is a nurse. When I told her I was terrified of needles and had heard they make you give yourself heparin injections, she filled a syringe and made me give myself an injection of saline. GUESSS WHAT??? I didn't even feel it.
So, here are my goals. Eat 3 Tums each day for extra calcium. Follow the diet plan. Take multivitamins. Start walking and increase to 45 minutes per day, 6-7 days per week. Wish me luck!

My first impression of Dr. Salvino and all the people who work with him, was that they new their stuff. Also they were/are ethical, in that they are not going to perform the surgery unless really needed. My opinion of him and his staff just improved over time. The only thing that I didn't like was that I never saw him in the hospital. Which wasn't all that bad because he has 4 other doctors in his practice who are all very knowledgeable, with very good bedside manner. They came everyday to see me in the hospital. The hospital Good Samaritan, where I was at was also an excellent place. He and his staff emphasize aftercare very much and if I were living there I would be taking part in their support group meetings and all that stuff. They emphasized the fact that this surgery isn't an all-inclusive answer to obesity, that it also takes a life style diet and excersize. He told my husband and I all about the risks of surgery and the chances and gave us a chance to back out of the surgery, but I trusted him, so I went ahead with the surgery. Overall I would rate him as very thorough and both his competence and bedside manner, in the office, are great. I can't say enough good things about Dr.Salvino and his staff, they are all wonderful.

I liked Dr. Salvino the minute I met him. He is very kind. I will update when it is closer to surgery time.

ok, I went to see Dr. Salvino for my little pre-op speech and I had a chance to get a better impression of him. He is great!!! He tells it like it is but he also has a sense of humor. He knows how to be serious when it is important but can also let loose a little and be fun. I think the office staff is very nice. The billing girls are very helpful, I received alot of help from a young lady in particular named Nicole, she is very nice and knowledgable about insurance. The aftercare program is very good. They require you to give yourself heparin shots 2 times a day for 2 weeks to prevent blood clots. I personally feelthis is very important and I haven't heard that other doctors practice this. Also they make sure you are working your lungs and legs so you prevent pneumonia and blood clots. I would highly recommend Dr. Salvino to anyone considering this surgery. There is a lady there named Carol Bax and she is extremely helpful and kind.

I liked Dr. Salvino and his staff a lot. My initial consultation and pre-op visit were very thorough and they all took the time to answer all of my questions.
His aftercare program is good, he really emphasizes good nutrition and lots of exercise. He wants to see all post-op patients after 2 weeks, after 3 months, 1 year and I'm not sure after that. At this point (pre-op), I would recommend him.
