Dr. Salvino is very buisness like but very knowledgable.
I was very disappointed when I had problems and several of the Wish center Dr's saw me but not Dr. Salvino. Each Dr. seemed to have a different thought as to why I was experiencing problems and how to resolve them. Some of the surgeons were almost unfriendly and I had to stay in the hospital longer than expected and my incision is way longer than expected.
The staff for the most part was very nice and friendly, there was only one employee that was particularly difficult.
They have a nice aftercare program but, since I do not live in the area my aftercare was not as expected.
I am sure he is surgically competant but they do not participate with insurance companies, getting help when there is a complication was very hard and confusing. They are very busy and you often feel rushed, especially during hosp. visits.
He was very informative and freindly. He was very positive and offered encouragement about having surgery. The staff is great and they are all there to help. There was nothing that I didn't like about Dr. Salvino. Dr.Salvino is highly qualified and has an impressive resume. They have a a great pre & post operative program to give every patience the best possible chance to succeed. Since I haven't had surgery yet I can't comment on aftercare and bedside manners.
I met Dr Pulawski at my first appt with the WISH center. He was very positive, and down to earth. He explained all the different types of procedures, and why I would be having the one I would be having. I felt very at ease with Dr Pulawski, no 'god' complex here. I will update more after my next mtg on 10/11/02. Dr Pulawski will be leaving the end of november to head up the new WISH center in AZ. I have now chosen a new surgeon, Dr Salvino.
Dr. Salvino. Experienced as a trauma surgeon. Heads up WISH center in IL. More serious than Dr Pulawski. But he put me at ease and I felt comfortable with him. He reviewed most of what Dr P told me.
VERY CARING DOCTOR.
VERY CARING STAFF.
THE OFFICE STAFF WAS WONDERFUL TO ME.
DR. SALVINO WAS WONDERFUL. NO DOWN SIDE.
I TRUST HIM ENTIRELY.
THE WISH CENTER EDUCATES THEIR PATIENTS THROUGHLY FOR THE TIME AFTER SURGERY. AGAIN LET ME SAY YOU HAVE TO BE READY FOR THIS CHANGE. IT IS A TOOL TO HELP YOU CHANGE THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. THE OUTCOME FOR ME WAS WORTH THE RISKS THAT I HAD TO TAKE. BUT EACH PERSON SHOULD REALLY GIVE IT THOUGHT.
I FEEL THAT DR. SALVINO SAVED MY LIFE AND GAVE ME A NEW BEGINNING.
Dr. Chris Salvino, Wish Center, Downers Grove, Illinois.
Dr Salvino seemed caring and very understanding of how a obese person feels.
The staff is all very caring and willing to answer any of your questions.
My first impression of him was that he
was short and to the point, very busy
and would not have a very good bedside manner.
After spending more time with him on my
pre op visit, I found that not to be the case. He spent as much time as needed to
explain and answer any of my questions.
Dr. Salvino is very businesslike, cordial and to the point. He does not sugar-coat answers and through our conversations, my husband and I describe him as a perfectionist. It'sEXACTLY the type of surgeon I want! He did not rush us, answered all our questions in "plain English" and in great detail. His office staff are all friendly and very informative. The WISH center office is superbly laid-out and designed for comfort for large people. There was very little wasted time at my appointments. I specifically chose him for his surgical competence, training and reputation. I feel at peace with my decision to have him perform my surgery and personally I liked his demeanor.
I really liked Dr. Salvino. He has a great deal of experience which includes Director and lead surgeon of the WISH center and Medical Director of level 1 Trauma Dept. at Good Samariatians. I also liked the fact that a WISH Center surgeon was always avaliable at the hospital.
Dr. Salvino's office staff are very nice and willing to take the time needed to answer all questions.
During office visits all risks are gone over.
You also talk with a insurance person, dietician, exercise person and have a psy consult. At the first visit you start on a diet and exercise program to get you ready for surgery. They also stress aftercare and support groups.
I would also like to note that I called the center several times and always had my questions answered the same day.
Even though I knew this surgery was what I wanted to do I was still very nervous.
When I get nervous I tend to turn to humor so it was really nice to find that Dr. Salvino had humor. Despite his humor when I tried to sugar coat things(such as pain etc..) he would not let me. He would again go over what I could expect.
He also did not let me get away with anything at the hospital. He had told me I would need to get up and walk 10 xs a day.
When he came in and asked how many times I had walked and I proudly replied 6 x's he said that was great and that I still had time to get the other 4x's in before bed.
I would recommend Dr. Salvino and the WISH Center to anyone interested in surgery.
Dr. Salvino is a very experienced surgeon. His credentials are very impressive and I feel very confident in the choice I have made. Dr. Salvino and his staff stress pre surgical care. His staff is especially wonderful. They are very friendly and understanding and as well as very accomodating. I highly recommend him and The Wish Center.
Dr. Salvino was very knowledgeable and personalable. He was honest about surgery and its side effects. His office staff was friendly and available for questions anytime I called or visited the office. Dr. Salvino emphasized the importance of walking after surgery and getting back to your normal routine. He is a great doctor and teacher.
