MY FIRST VIST @ DR. FERRARI'S OFFICE WAS VERY EXCITING. I FILLED OUT ALL THE FORMS AND WAITED AND TALKED WITH OTHER POST OP PATIENTS IN THE WAITING AREA. HE WAS VERY INFORMATIVE AND LIKEABLE. THE STAFF WAS MOSTLY LADIES THAT HAD ALREADY HAD THE SURGERY. THEY ARE CALLED "LITTLE SISTER" AT NEWEIGH. THIS OFFICE WAS USUALLY FULL, I HAD NO IDEA THAT SO MANY PEOPLE WERE TRYING TO GET THE SURGERY DONE. I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE WHO IS MORBID OBESE. YOU FEEL LIKE THERE IS HOPE OUT THERE AND HE AND THE STAFF ARE GONG TO HELP YOU GET THERE. THEY HAVE AN AFTERCARE PROGRAM WEEKLY, THE LITTLE SISTERS ORGANIZE IT. I WAS OVERALL VERY SATISIFED WITH THE EXPETION OF THE HOSPITAL HE PRATICED IN WHICH IS BELLAIRE HOSPITAL.

I met Dr Ferrari on the 17th of May, and felt that he know what he is doing. The people that work with him were really great. I also got to met several people there at his office that had or going to have the surgery done the following week. I would recommend him to anyone that is thinking about have this done.

My first impression of Dr. ferrari was he was very nice and very informative and realy wanted to answer any questions that i had. I realy liked him .I have not had the surgery yet,I will let you if this impression changes after the surgery. I have heard alot of good things about him though. He also uses nuweigh to handle the insurance part of this whole ordeal , which is a god send.He does insist on aftercare which is also handled thru nuweigh. He is very frank about the risks and the benifits of the surgery. So far I rate him and the staff at nuweigh a 10, they have made this process seem so simple,I did not even have to deal any with my insurance, they handled it all.

Seemed to be a good doctor. Hard to understand but is straight foward and tells you what you want to know.

Dr. Ferrari is the most patient, doc I have ever met, I have woken him up at 2:00 am with a question, answered and did not complain, very caring as well. His office staff is very well informed of all changes as well as professional and courteous, the fact that all of the ladies have had the surgery makes a big difference.

At first I didn't like him, I thought him rude,
but after talking with him a couple of times
I realized that he is very efficient and really
cares about his patients.

His office staff is fine, his nurses in his office
are very caring and called me several times
at home to check on me.

He can be brusk, and he will yell at you if
he thinks that you are not following the
program, but he really does care about his
patients. I learned just how much he cares
after I had some problems, he called me every
day just to check on me and when he had to
go out of town he had his staff check on me.
Unfortunately he doesn't spend enough time
with his patients, he's always running
behind schedule.

He relies in NeWeigh for the after care
program which is fairly structured.

He did not stress the risks of surgery to
me and I was not aware of all of the problems
I could/did run into.

I would rate him as a good doctor if you can
get his time. In my opinion, his surgical
compentence is better than his bedside
manner.

Dr. Ferrari is a very charismatic person that encourages you to ask questions and voice concerns. I really did get a positive first impression. His office staff at Neweigh is incredible. They had answered most of my questions before I even saw the doctor because almost all of them have already had the surgery and know first-hand your concerns. The Neweigh office emphasizes the importance of aftercare and they have special groups set up for you to come to after surgery, which I firmly believe will help in the healing process both mentally and physically. Overall, I put Dr. Ferrari and his staff at a 10!!

I will update later the bedside manner and surgical competence after my surgery.

Dr Ferrari is a very soft spoken individual who is willing to takt the time you need to fully understand the proceedure and makes sure that your fears are addressed to the best of his ability. The first impression has never changed, he always greets you with a smile and a thumbs up. Dr Ferrari speaks with a very strong accent, but speaks slowly and will do what it takes to make you understand what you need to know. He stresses the importance of the aftercare program which is run by NeWeigh(new way).
He spends a lot of time on the fact that there are risks with the surgery, but at the same time there are reisk with staying obese. He answers every question that you may have and takes the time to be assured that you truley understand the proceedure. Overall I would rate Dr Ferrari a 10. His surgical competence and bedside manner are both great. Even though Dr Ferrari is small in stature, he is my giant in the care he has given me and my family. He cares for the entire family as well as the patient. He will answer their questions and concerns also.

He is a very competant surgeon. He does not do the Gastric Bypass Lapriscopicly. He also will not sew up the stomach were he cuts it into, he will only use staples. He explained the time to sew it closed would be to lengthy. It would allow Gastric juices to infect the area he was closing up the staples are much faster and does put two rows.

I had my consultation with Dr. Ferrari on March 15, 2000. Like everyone else has said, he is very nice and very helpful. My mother asked him why he likes doing the surgery and he said because it is very gratifying to him. Gotta love that! He also told us that his own daughter will be having an RNY this year. Two questions that we asked that may be helpful to you are: What is his mortality rate? He told us that out of the 800 patients he's operated on, he's only lost one. And the other question was what was his post-op complication rate? Less than seven percent!
