Bruce Long Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

12/19/05 My experience with Dr. Long so far has been because he recently performed a wound surgery on my Mother and he was great, a fabulous surgeon, very caring and easy to talk to, great bedside manner. I look forward to dealing with him for myself after my pcp supervised diet. Once we have to call him because of a complication with home health and with some questions, and amazingly he actually called us back, not just a nurse! That says good doc to me :)

First impression was very good and I liked his manner.As time went on he seemed too busy to answer my questions. I think he did wonderful work and is a good surgeon,but I think he needs to make all his patients feel as though they are a priority to him. His staff are all very nice and try to be very supportive of your needs and feelings. If you have questions make sure they are answered before the surgery.Hard to get answers afterwards.Thought there was a structured aftercare program,but since the surgery I feel like I'm doing this all alone. Overall he is a good doctor and maybe my expectations of what should be aftercare are too high. You just have to make the decisions yourself and hope for the best.These are my opinions only and may not reflect what others have experienced.

At first I wasn't sure what to expect. I had went through three different surgeons and I was beginning to get fustrated, so my first impression wasn't over all thrilling. But upon further visits I found that Dr. Long made me feel secure in my descision to have Gastric Bypass Surgery.

His staff has always been helpful and I've always felt welcomed when I had office visits and post-opt visits.

Dr. Long is more than a capable surgeon, and I would emphasize that he is probably the best in the Roanoke Valley. He answers all your questions and made sure I understood the risks. I would rate Dr. Long as the best in his field and would recommend anyone to him. Simply the bets surgeon out there.

If you are seeking gastric bypass surgery, then Dr. Bruce Long is the man you want. Bar none the best surgeon...EVER!

My first impression of Dr.Long was a that he was a great Dr. he answered all my question and also my Mothers questions.

My impression has not changed I still like Dr.Long. His office staff was great and always there when I need something they help. There is nothing that I least like about him.

I would like to tell others who are looking at this Dr. He is a great Dr. and he is always there if you need anything. If you have questions he will answer them.

He emphasize's a lot about after care. He is always making sure that you are taking care of what needs to be done. His after care program is very well he always sets up apt.'s and makes sure that you all the things you need.

He addresses it like he should because everyone needs to know about the risk. he told me everything that he was going to do and what to expect afterwards.

I would rate him on a scale of 1-10 a 20 because that is how great he is he breaks the scales.

I think that everything is great and his bedside manner was great he cme in and checked on me as often as he could but his staff always did. I also think that his surgical compentence is great and that he is a great doctor.

Dr. Long was very good with explaining the details of the surgery. I felt comfortable talking with him and he answered all my questions. His staff is very nice. Everytime I needed to have questions answered, they got right back with me. He addressed the pros and cons of the surgery and the care afterwards. I have not had the surgery yet, but I feel he is a very competent surgeron. He removed my gallbladder in 1999. I will update after surgery.

I have only seen Dr. Long once and he
was very good at explaining the surgery
and taking his time for any questions
I may have. I have an appointment with
him on October 12th to go over the surgery
again and answer any questions I may have
for care after the surgery.

Dr. Long and his staff were great. He was too the point and told me straight up what I would be going through and what to expect from the surgery. His staff was very helpful and took care of everthing that had to be done. I really didn't have to do anything. They took care of the insurance end and all my appointments. Other than the surgery, the whole experience was pain-free. I would recommend him to anyone. He is too the point with a no frills approach. He seems to be very competent and his bedside manner was great. In my opinion, he knows what he is doing.

I was very impressed with him, he was very informative and concerned about me on the very first visit. His staff has been very helpful and patient with me and willing to work with me on any thing that I have called them about.

My first impression of Dr. Long was a good one. He was very informative, asked a lot of past medical history ?'s, and seemed to be most interested in my health and well being pre, and post-op. Best was his HONESTY with me, that I liked. I trusted him and proceded to go through the steps necessary to begin my surgery. His office staff has been great, for I called frequently in the beginning for updates on where I stood for my date for surgery. I have been very pleased post-op, he was great during my post-op period while still in the hospital, and his residents were good as well. So far I would highly recommend him to others wanting to have gastric bypass surgery. Other than the waiting list to be on while even getting a consult appointment, my whole process lasted right at 7 months...1st time I called for consultation, until surgery date.
