My first impression of \"Fuzz\" as he's called by patients and staff alike was that he was very caring and down to earth and he has maintained this demeanor throughout my visits with him. His staff is extremely professional and willing to help you in any way. Aftercare is a biggie with Fuzz. Support groups are encouraged and we see the psychologist and nutritionist at each post-op check up.rnOverall I would consider him a fantastic surgeon and person. I would highly recommend him to anyone in our area. Both his bedside manner and surgical competence are beyond compare!
Doctor Fernandez, or \"Fuzz\" as he lets people call him, is very friendly. He's not overly corny or in your face, but he has a friendly warmth about him. You can tell he's a bit cocky - he's very young, and looks it, but it wasn't a bad thing. I was supremely impressed with Fuzz. He continued to be friendly, caring, and concerned for the well-being of all of his patients.rnrnAlso, Dr. Fuzz's staff is PHENOMENAL! There is a RN, Coordinator, Nutritionist, and Psychiatrist. It is an extremely well-rounded group of professionals who are so focused on helping their patients pre and post-op. They are there for you before surgery, and every appointment after surgery, 5+ appointments, you see the ENTIRE staff. They are very focused about aftercare - eating, exercising, staying updated with the WLS office, etc.rnrnAlso, the entire staff is very upfront and informative about the risks and concerns with surgery. They work with you to make sure your surgery can go as smoothly as possible - you have an ultrasound of the gallbladder and liver to look at the liver size and if the gallbladder needs to be removed. They worked with me a LOT with a pre-op diet to get my enlarged liver shrunk so that I could have lap surgery, and it was successful!rnrnI'm still early pre-op, but overall, I would give Fernandez a very positive review. It's been a really wonderful experience so far!rn * How did he/she address the risks of surgery?rn * How would you rate him/her overall?rn * Which is better, surgical competence, bedside manner, or are both great?rn
I met Dr. Fuzz while attending a wls seminar. He is very personable, knowledgeable and a super nice man!! I am confident in his ability to assist me in this journey. I have only heard great things about him and his staff. I also met his nurse, Susan Butler and she is very knowledgeable as well. I just can't wait to learn more and continue paving the path to a brighter future!!
9/12/2007 I just want to say that my surgeon Dr. Fuzz is awlsome! He and his staff are the best you could ask for! They really care about their patients and are there for us in the long term. My surgery was May 30th and I would highly recommend Dr. Fuzz to everyone I know! His clinic at Wake Forest Baptist Medical is a BCBS Center of excellance. There is nothing I didn't like about any of the staff! They are all remarkable new friends of mine and I get to see them every month at our weight loss meeting. rnrnrn1/19/2007. Today was my first appointment with Dr. Fuzz. My first impressions of him were extremely good. I am very confident that he has no problems doing his job. I meet Susan his nurse a while back and she to is a very nice person. They now have a Nurse Practitioner that works with them and I met her to. The staff is very careing and I am looking forward to working with them. You can tell that they care about their patients. They have a good aftercare program and they work with you for your first year and they will be there for you if you have any problems in the future. They have meetings that tell you about the risk of the surgery and I learned alot on my own researching. They have support meetings every month that you can attend.
Dr. Fuzz as he likes to be called was recommended by several friends who have used him and his team for their surgery. He has a nutritionist and a psychologist that work with his patients and are just great. I actually enjoyed my meetings with them. Susan Butler is his nurse coordinator and takes care of all the paper work and submitting the info to the insurance company. She is really nice and always available to answer any questions. This team believes strongly in after care and support. The entire team comes to monthly support meetings. I feel very confident that I have the right surgeon and team for my rny surgery. Dr. Fuzz is very straight forward about the risks of this surgery and his experience performing it. I like the nice, friendly, relaxed atmosphere of this practice.
In my opinion, Dr. Fuzz and Susan have assembled the best team in our area for WLS. They make sure that each patient is very informed of all the risks and what is expected of the patient after surgery. Preparation before surgery and follow up care after surgery are of the utmost importance to them. The monthly support group meetings are awesome!
I have been to a few meeting that Dr Fuzz has conducted, he is a very sweet and understanding man, and please dont think becouse he is young that he doesnt know his stuff. He treats each individual diffrent, but he treats us all with care and most of all dignity. he knows us each by name and is very concerned with our wellbeing,,and all this is even before we have surgrey.rnrnIf you are looking for a Dr..Dr fuzz is your man.He also has a very caring staff that he works with as well, they treat you as though they have known you their whole life..just like family..Traci Manley
