My first impression was a good one. He answered my questions for the most part. Hes not all that straight forward on some issues and you must dig around at times. He is however matter of fact and a strictly play by the ruled kind of guy if this surgery is going to work for you. He believes you must be prepared for the hard work postop as this surgery alone absolutely wont change your life. Its just a step in the right direction. His office staff were extremely helpful and always returned my calls. They fit me into the docs busy schedule even on days he had surgery. I live out of town so this factor meant alot to me. He doesnt however have a structured aftercare program perse' but encourages you to call anytime. He has an after surgery instructions that you must follow up to a year out of surgery. Hes a little rushed when it comes to bedside manner so I suggest you have all your questions ready....All the nurses at the hospitol are afraid of him because he has strict rules about his patients he wants folled...lol Overall...I would choose him again, no questions asked. Anyone wanting to know about him or my surgery please feel free to email me.

I am so happy to have gone to see Dr. Naaman. I think he's really straight to the point, which is what I like. I have already done all the research and even got to the point of having my pre-op interview with my prior surgeon, so I really didn't need to hear the same things over and over. He saw I had a list of questions, and answered each and every one! I felt very comfortable. I also really like the office staff. His nurse, Pam, was great! She made me feel at ease and was very helpful. Also, his scheduler, Amanda, was great. She gave me everything I needed so I wouldn't have to come in again before surgery. I was a little worried that things would get held up with my insurance changing doctors, but she called me the next morning to confirm the surgery date and let me know everything went fine with my insurance. I hope my surgery goes as well as this initial office visit. Oh yeah, I was there about 25 minutes early, and they took me in less than ten minutes after I arrived! Very little waiting!

Very business like and very thorough, he examined all my reports from my cardiologist, gastroenterologist, and rheumotologist before he gave me an appointment.

Everything was explained in detail, pros and cons.

Office staff are fantastic, friendly and informative and cooperated fully while I was dealing with the insurance company.

I particularly liked the fact the Dr. Naaman is a vascular surgeon. He normally does the RNY procedure endoscopically but with me it will be done with open surgery because I have the scar from a previous surgery with the Molina band that was reversed after 17 years.

To me surgical competence is the most important although a good bedside manner is not unappreciated.

Well I thought Dr. Naaman was very nice.
He was very matter of fact. I did feel very
confident in him. The staff are very nice.
They are quick to get back with you and called
right away when I got my letter for approval.
In a couple of days they got back with me with
my scheduled date for surgery. Dr. Naaman
was very good at explaining everything. He also
listened to my questions and concerns patiently.
He was in no rush. He made me feel completely
comfortable.

I MET WITH DR NAAMAN 061901 FOR PRE OP. MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR NAAMAN WAS THAT HE WAS A VERY CONSERVATIVE PERSON, AND STRAIGHT TO THE POINT. AT MY PRE OP VISIT. I GOT TO MEET A VERY WARM, FRIENDLY, AND JOYFUL PERSON. HE, AND HIS STAFF MADE ME FEEL VERY AT EASE. MY DATE IS STILL 062201 AT 1PM. THIS IS MY BIRTHDAY PRESENT TO MYSELF. I JUST TURNED 35 061701. I HAVE A SUGGESTION FOR ALL OF THE CHRISTIANS. WE NOT ONLY NEED TO PRAY FOR OURSELVES, AND THE OTHER MEMBER. BUT WE MUST ALSO REMEMBER TO KEEP OUR DRS IN OUR PRAYERS. FOR THEY ARE HUMAN BEING WITH A GREAT DEAL OF STRESS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES. THIS BROUGHT ME INTO REALIZATION. WHEN HIS NURSE TOLD ME. DR NAAMAN GETS PLEASURE OUT OF HELPING PEOPLE. THIS TAKES A SPECIAL PERSON, AND I THANK GOD EVERY DAY FOR THESE SPECIAL PEOPLE.
DR NAAMAN STRESSES FOLLOWING HIS DIRECTIONS EXACTLY AS HE GIVES THEM. THE ONLY AFTERCARE I WILL RECEIVE IS FOLLOW UP WITH HIM AND MY FAMILY PHYSCIAN.
DR NAAMAN STRESSES ALL POSSIBLE RISKS FROM THE SURGERY. I GUESS HE WANTS TO KNOW IF YOU ARE TRUELLY READY FOR THIS LIFE CHANGING SURGERY AND HOW SERIOUS YOU ARE ABOUT THE SURGERY. I WOULD GIVE DR NAAMAN VERY HIGHT MARKS. IM GLAD OF THE PRE OP VISIT. ALOT OF MY WORRIES HAVE BEEN PUT TO REST.

Let me begin by saying that I initially was referred to NewWeigh, but they turned me down because I had had another obesity procedure done when I was 13, 13 years ago. This was very discouraging, but I could not be deterred. Coincidentally, they also wouldn't do my sister's surgery laparoscopically, citing her body weight...go figure...and they bungled her claim, resulting in a denial. She is now awaiting her first appointment with Dr. Naaman.
My surgeon is so wonderful that it makes me want to cry. His office staff was friendly and courteous, and since I was in such a hurry for intervention, they got me in to see him really quickly. They also made sure that I was adequately prepared prior to my visit, and that I had everything my insurance company would need to process my claim, thus speeding things up considerably. We even did most of the paperwork by fax!
Then on the day of the office visit, the first thing I noticed was that his office smelled so nice. They had fat-friendly furniture! They weighed me in a very confidential manner. The actual exam room had a fat-friendly step stool and gowns. The nurse that was in with me was so comforting. Dr. Naaman examined me, then described the procedure, using an informational booklet that he gave to me. He encouraged me to ask questions, then answered all of them. I told him that I just want to have a normal life, be able to sit in a lawn chair at the kids' soccer games, and he took my hand and said, "We can help you with that, Stacey." Naturally, I was reduced to tears, and the nurse stayed with me and comforted me. She was so compassionate, and that is something lacking in most doctors offices when you are obese. The scheduler told me that it would be about a week before my claim went out, and that I should call in a week to ensure that it had, and then two to eight weeks before we knew anything. I called her less than a week later, and she said, "I was just about to call you...good news. We faxed the claim, and Aetna approved you!" Again, happy tears met with utter compassion. She asked if June 20 was ok, less than three weeks away! I jumped for joy! I turned 26 the next week, and said goodbye to the fattest year of my life. I will never be this size again.
Dr. Naaman really stresses the need for aftercare. He outlined the exercise and dietary requirements at that first visit.
I will update this after my surgery, but so far, I rate him as wonderful. All of the benefits and risks were outlined in the booklet, and they answer any questions with the most cheerful spirit.
If I had to name something negative, it would be that the location of his office in the building is quite a long walk from most entrances, and I was winded when I got there. But that is picking, isn't it? It was so worth it.

I have not met with the Dr. yet, but I do
have an appointment with him on 5/24. I call every other day for any cancellations. I have only talk to Bernice his nurse and she has been very helpfull and kind. And so far she has answer all my questions.

05/24/01- I had my first appt. and he was
very straight forward and answer all my questions. I was told it would take at 2 weeks to hear back from the insurance and
to my surprise I recieved a call the very next morning, saying everything has been approved and my surgery will be on the 18th of June. I am so ready,
I have one more appt. on the 14th for any last minute questions.

My first impression was that he was very matter of fact and strictly business. He gave full information and a little booklet to help me understand the risks and to formulate questions for the next meeting. The second meeting began with my asking about several pictures on the walls and thus discovering he is an avid and very skilled photographer. We discusseds several of the photops and the history behind them. This dialog changed my impression of him to a warm and creative person. he then answered all of m questions and gave my hope of success. His personal presence during my hosiptal stay was breif but so was the stay. The nursing staff kept referring to my docotr as ver strict and they really made every effort to see that his wishes were carried out.

3/28/01 - I have an appointment with Dr. Naaman 3/29/01. Looking forward to it and will update afterwards. 3/29/01 - Had my appointment today... I can not say enough about how pleased I am with my surgeon and everyone in his office! When I left, they promised to work on my surgery date, and before I arrived home I had my surgery date! Dr. Naaman is very knowledgeable and he made me feel comfortable in his presence. I have done a lot of research and he was impressed with this. He said I could have the RNY by LAP. I was very pleased with this news as the recovery time is much less. I rate Dr. Naaman and his staff - excellent, A++, and on a scale of 1-10, he's a 100! Looking forward to May 7th!

4/12/01 - Just found out I've been approved! Wooo Hooo! Thank you Lord and thank you Dr. Naaman's office; especially Bernice! She has been so wonderful and patient! I'm so happy and looking forward to my surgery with the best surgeon!

5/9/01 - I am now post op and still in love with Dr. Naaman. He is very good at his job and very good with his patients. I will recommend him to everyone, including my own family. (I have already!). He came to see me everyday in the hospital and answered my questions. I will see him again in one week. Looking forward to losing weight!

I met with him today, for the first time. It took me almost two months to get an appt. He was very nice. Took lots of time to explain the procedure and answer all of my questions. His office staff was great and have really been good. Now the biggest hurdle...waiting for insurance approval. there is no aftercare program, but he gives you a book that explains all and suggest an aftercare. I am sure I will have more questions later, but will update when I hear from the insurance co.
