I would do the surgery all over again with Dr. A!!! He and his entire staff were wonderful!!! Not one problem and they always answer any questions I might have.

Dr Alvarez is the absolute best!!!!!! I had several people concerned about my going to Mexico but this was the best decision that I have ever made. My surgery was 04-06-17 and I am doing very well..Everyone on his team are wonderful!!!!. The hotel staff were so friendly and helpful. A friend of mine recommended Dr Alvarez after she went and I would tell anyone if you are looking, dont hesitate, you will be taken care of by the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had my gastric sleeve surgery done on 4/3/2017 and I am doing well. I was hesitant about traveling to Mexico to have surgery, but I had two friends that went to Dr. Alvarez before me and I was able to watch their progress after surgery. I was amazed! I work in the medical field and I can tell you that I have never received as good of care as Dr. Alvarez and his team provided for me!! I have never received that kind of care here in the United States. I have lost 34lbs since surgery and I am doing well. If you are considering bariatric surgery, please let me highly recommend Dr. Alvarez and his amazing team at Endobariatric.com!!!

I am so happy with my choice of using Doctor, and Surgeon Dr. Alvarez in Piedras Negras Mexico - Endobariatric. The best decision I made 100%. Due to my husband's work situation, I ended up going alone. I had nothing to worry about; Dr. Alvarez and his team took excellent care of me. Prior to leaving, they made sure I had my itinerary and travel accommodations in order. Upon arriving to Piedras Negras by shuttle, I felt very safe; the stores and restaurants are very clean, and the people are very friendly too. I didn't see any shenanigans out on the streets either. I am so glad I made my decision to be seen by Dr. Alvarez 24 hour care from the hospital to the hotel. If I had to do it all over again I would. I had surgery March 21st and as of today I am 28lbs down. Surgery went very well and quick..my incisions healed nicely, easier than my gallbladder surgery I had in the states a few years back. Thank you Dr. Alvarez!

Having Dr. Alvarez perform my VSG was one of the best decisions I have ever made! Both Dr. Alvarez and his staff are exceptional at what they do. The truly treat you like family when you are there. There is no question they cannot answer. From the moment you book your appointment you are given information about the surgery, the staff, the location, the hotels...I mean everything! The care does not stop once you return home either. I traveled alone to Piedras Negras for my surgery and I was nervous and scared to go alone but everyone at Endobariatrics took me under their wing and took the best care of me I could ask for. My recovery was great! I wasn't nervous for long.
If you are on the fence about this process or what doctor to chose, do yourself a favor and chose Dr. Alvarez and the Endobariatric team. I would chose Dr. Alvarez over and over again!

I am from West Texas and I traveled the 3 hours to Piedras Negras for VSG surgery with Dr. Alvarez and his Endobaratric team. I will say that I was just fine when we first arrived. The hotel and staff were very nice. Once checked in my husband and I decided to walk down several blocks on each side of the hotel to see what there was to look at or do. The area was not very tourist friendly. Once back at the hotel we had the Meet and Greet later that evening and all my questions and concerns were addressed. The morning of surgery we arrived at the hospital. I was very nervous because it was not the hospital that was shown in the videos or any of the paperwork. The hospital was old and in an older part of town. Upon entering however it was clean and the staff friendly. I was almost to the point of not having the surgery when the nurses reassured me and just sedated me. When I woke up I was not too sore however I was very sick. I don't take to anesthesia well and I had a hard time getting it out of my system. The day I was released back to the hotel I felt much better. We were taken to the Mexican Market where we were able to purchase things to take back to our family. The entire time in the Endo Van we were cared for, the drivers were always courteous and nice. The nurses went above and beyond to make sure all our needs were addressed. Especially Anali,,, She is awesome!. Dr. Alvarez and his coordinator Susan have always been there for me before and even now several weeks after surgery and I never wait long for them to respond to my e-mails. I highly recommend Endobariatrics for your surgery. I didn't have to jump thru hoops, I didn't have to try diet after diet or see any shrinks to make sure I could do the surgery or have insurance cover it. The cost was reasonable and I was able to finance thru HAF, thanks to the links on Dr. Alvarez's page! Overall it wasn't a scary or bad experience. I was more afraid of the anesthesia than anything else but I NEVER once felt unsafe or in harms way.

I can not say enough to express how wonderful my weight loss surgery with endobariatrics was. The first thing I did was to email inquiry about WLS with Dr. Alvarez, which was sent at almost midnight on a Friday, to which I received a call from Susan the next morning to answer my questions. I was shocked at how quickly she responded to me. I then filled out a detailed questionnaire and submitted it to Dr. Alvarez and on SUNDAY he sent me a video email detailing my questionnaire and that I was a candidate. I was impressed at how on a weekend they were so quick to respond to me and get me the information I needed.

I then poured over every article I could find, review and watched the #AskDrA show on youtube for hours and by Tuesday I knew without a doubt I trusted this Doctor and his team. The coordinated everything for me. All I had to do was get my airfare and set a date! When I arrived in San Antonio Rosi picked me up at the airport and drove me across the border and was a gem who told me that she has been with Dr A since he started Endobariatrics and what a wonderful surgeon he is.

Upon arriving in Piedras Negras and getting settled the surgical team came to the hotel to meet us and answer any questions we may have had. That was so valuable. I had any lingering anxiety completely GONE after that. They took time out of theirs and their families lives that evening to come and put our minds at rest and make sure we felt like we knew them.

The next morning and surgery went without a hitch. They were all kind, attentive and made me comfortable and relaxed. Before the surgery they came in to give me my IV and put something in it to relax me and the next thing I knew I was waking up and surgery was over. I had mild nausea and they immediately gave me something for it. After that I didn't have any more nausea and very minimal discomfort. I was up walking around and smiling!

They continued to check me often until I left two days later and made sure that everything was healing properly which reassured me and helped me to just relax and let my body heal. I will be forever grateful to Dr Alvarez and his entire team for a wonderful experience and for their exceptional medical expertise. I put my life in their hands and they cared for me better than I have ever been cared for. So happy I chose Endobariatrics and am part of their family now!

Going to Mexico to see Dr Alvarez was one of the best experiences you could ask for. The group of doctors and staff are 2nd to none that you would find in the US or anywhere. The doctors and staff answer any questions you have both while you are in Mexico and after you get home. They truly are always there for you in this process. The surgery truly was a breeze. 2 hours after I was out I was up walking the halls, never any pain, discomfort or sick feeling. The hospital staff was friendly and so attentive to every need. In the beginning of my journey I weighed 419 pounds, after the pre-surgery liquid diet I was 372 pounds on the day of surgery (1/27/2017), I am now, 6 weeks later 330 pounds losing weight weekly. My only regret is I am 51 years old and I did not do this sooner. Dr Alvarez and his staff are truly LIFE-savers and I will continue to recommend them and praise them to anyone looking to regain their life. A truly wonderful experience.

From the woman that sets everything up for you (Susan), to the woman who picks you up at the hotel, every staff member you come in contact with is warm friendly and professional. Upon arriving to Mexico, the Hotel is very nice and clean and again the staff is very attentive and friendly. Excellent service!

The doctors and nursing staff are exceptional. They treat you and genuinely look at you like a family member. My whole experience was pleasant (despite the fact that I was there for surgery).

Dr Alverez has a great system in place to get you back up and going in no time. I highly recommend him and his wonderful staff.

I have had a wonderful experience with the entire Endobariatric group, Susan is a wonderful source of information and helps to get everything lined up. Dr. Alvarez is the best at what he does, and he has done way more of the Vertical Sleeve procedures than any surgeon here in Florida where I live. I am a nurse in the states and found the facility in Mexico to be just as well run as the facility I work for. Every aspect of the travel went flawlessly. You just have to get to San Antonio, and home from San Antonio and they take care of the rest. Dr. Alvarez and his team of Doctors and Nurses are very personable, and down to earth. They speak excellent English. I had no trouble communicating with anyone. They have the procedure down to an art form, and are very efficient. Less time under anesthesia is always a good thing. One of the things I appreciated about their procedure is that they do the leak test during the surgery while the patient is still under anesthesia. Which makes way more sense than waiting until the next day and having the potential need to go back in to fix a leak, which is what a lot of other providers do. Many health care professionals go to Dr Alvarez and so I was very comfortable with my decision. Oh yes, I was up and walking within an hour of waking up, which is hugely important to avoid complications. My recovery has been great. I am down 22 pounds from 190 to 168 in 5 weeks, which is about 1/3rd of the weight I need to loose, I'm down a size and they are getting very baggy now, time to do a little shopping :). I have been able to get ride of one diabetes pill and the other 2 have been cut in half so far. I am anticipating that I will be off the meds completely in a few months. I have had no problems with the post op diet, it all makes sense and is an easy progression. I couldn't be happier. Victoria Dorotiak
