My Doctor is Keith Gersin.
My first impression of him was lovely... I came in for my first appt. that was set up at like 4:00 or 5:00 p.m. which is unusual for them. It was because they had canceled my appt. twice before! They were running late, but I didn't mind, but after I was in the room about 10 min. Dr. Gersin poked his head in and appologized for the wait and said he would be there in just a minute! If anyone has been to as many
Dr. as I have can tell you that was awsome! Doctors do not do that... I thought right away he was the doctor for my surgery!
He is funny though, because he seems like he has the bedside manner of let's say "toast"! But he is funny as hell! You'de miss it if you weren't paying attention, because he will say something hilarious, but with a totally straight face!!!! I think any doctor that I go have a beer with and hang out is the kind of doctor I want to do my surgery!!!
His office staff is great, and very friendly and helpful. They do however seem to be offended by me calling to find out info or asking questions about the surgery.
Overall, I think the whole program at UC is worth driving an hour to have my surgery their, and that's saying something considering the gas prices lately and I have a TRUCK!!! I'll say no more...
DR. ROC BAUMAN ROCKS!!!!!!!!!! He is great.
Smart, funny, easy to look at, and
really was concerned about me as a person. He did not assume that I was a
high school drop out like my other doc did. He treated me like an intelligent
person. I think that everything that happened has happened for a reason.
I cant wait til my date!
My first impression of Dr.Gersin was that he knew what he was doing. I haven't had any trouble with him or his office staff. Everytime I have had to contact them for anything they have been helpful in answering my questions or making sure I have the correct information. His office staff has been excellent. He seems to not be a talker but on the other hand I think he knows his stuff. His medical assistant did a great job in explaining to me the way the surgery would go and all of the risks of it. They also give you the pros to it.
Dr. Bauman is a very personable and kind doctor. He is funny and easy to talk to. He answered all my questions and didn't rush me like so many doctors do these days. I have read a lot about him and he has a wonderful reputation. He also did WLS on my 28 year old daughter in 2002 and she is 140 pounds lighter with a brand new 5 month old baby boy. She already had a 3 year old and she is doing great! I decided then that if I ever had this done, Dr. Bauman would be my doctor. His staff is great! They are friendly and make you feel so comfortable. Also they are very helpful, they don't mind you calling or emailing to check on your status and information. He has a wonderful nutritionist that works with him, Diane Stout. My daughter said without Diane it would have been so hard, but Diane made everything easy. After meeting Diane I understand what she meant! This lady is determined that we are all going to be so much better off and she will help us get there!
I have met with Dr. Bauman and am just about (I hope)ready to get approval from my ins. company. I can honestly say so far the staff has been great! Kim returns calls very promply. My sister is having her surgery this Tuesday 2-24-04 and I am so excited for her. I am beyond ready to be on the post-op side. I have since had my surgery, and I would do it all over again. Dr. Bauman is one fantastic Surgeon. I very highly recommend him and his staff.
I liked Dr. Bauman right away. My husband passed away in Nov and so I took his appointment w/ Dr. Bauman. I didn't realize that he even knew the situation (though I has explained it to the person who made appointments), his first words were how sorry he was for my loss.
My origional impression still holds, he seems like everyday people. His staff was wonderful too, it is sometimes hard to get in touch with Kim but she does always get back to you.
He was very honest when answering all my questions. I felt quite at ease with him form the start.
I personally have nothing negative to say about my experience with Dr. Bauman or his staff.
My impression of Dr. Bauman was a serious man. But after a while he let his guard down. Very nice man, knows what he is talking about, knows his profession well. He explains to you about the surgery and lets you be the judge as to which surgery you want. His staff, well what can I say, I have read horrible stories about them, but all I can say about, Kim and Sandy, way to go girls. Great staff. He really stated the dangerous throughout a video you have to watch and all the information sheets they provide you with.
I met with Dr. Bauman today and he was fantastic. I felt very comfortable with him and he was very informative. He left a great impression with me and I am very confident using him as my surgeon. I'm trying to decide between the lap band or gastric bypass surgery. Kim is waiting to fax my insurance for approval as soon as i make my decision. They gave me all the material they had on lap band for me to investigate. I am going to call Kim back tomorrow for my decision.

When I first met Dr. Keith Gersin, he was not what I expected. But then again, when is any doctor what you expect? He's was a quiet man with very nice eyes. I mean he looked straight into mine and I felt that I could trust him. He explained the surgery, i.e., risks, etc. And before he left he patted me on the shoulder, and said "everything will be alright."
His office staff was great. I must have had the first appointment of the day, because I only waited about five minutes before they whisked me back to a waiting room. In there, my husband and I only waited about another ten minutes before someone came in.
I have been told that I am in wonderful hands with Dr. Gersin. I really am praying that this is so, because my surgery is 3/17.
I honestly believe surgical competence outweighs bedside manner, and I think he may just have both!

Today I had my pre-op visit with Dr. Gresin. I also met his associate/soon to be partner Dr. Selwyn. I have so much trust in these two doctors that I cannot say enough. They are very thorough and understand the way I feel as an obese person. Following is something I found on wlsbutterflynetwork.org regarding my surgeon Dr. Gersin. It is great that he is so respected by his peers.

1. I went to the support group meeting last night for my surgeons (Dr. Hadley and Dr. Maguire in Kettering). Dr. Maguire said that they would begin doing Lap RNY as well as Open RNY in April. He said that they had observed the procedure done by other doctors, and mentioned that Dr. Gersin in Cincinnati is by far the best in the country for Lap RNY.
So if you are having Lap RNY with Dr. Gersin, I hope this opinion from a really great surgeon helps ease any concerns you may have!

Isn't is wonderful that Dr. Gersin is the best? I can't wait until next Wednesday for my wls. That's all for now.
3/22/04 Well I've been home since Friday and feeling pretty good. Dr. Gersin did a fantastic job on my wls. Early Friday a.m. he stopped in to see me. I can't say enough good things about him. He is truly a special person.
MY first impression of Dr. Gersin was, I am in great hands. He is very forward and lets you know what the plan is. My impression of Dr. Gersin just keeps getting better. Dr. Gersin's fellow, Dr. Selwyn was very through going over all of my medical problems. He made sure that I was medically stable to undergo this surgical procedure. The office staff is great, you couldn't ask for any better group of people. They went over all of the risks of the surgery with me. Dr. Selwyn took his time and explained with a picture exactly what they were going to do and what you can expect after surgery. He made sure that I had no others questions before he left the room. The Physician Assistant, Ann Airesman is a terrific person. She has always made me feel comfortable about asking questions, even the stupid ones.
For any future patients, You feel at first the process they make you go through is rediculious. However, as you go along you understand why they make you go through this. It is for your safety as well as making sure this is a surgery is something that you can and will make as a new part of your life. They take the time to explain the change it will make in your life and they make sure that it is something that you will be able to live with forever. If you follow their process things go smoothly. Susan Brown, submits to your insurance for approvals. All you have to do is wait for your insurance company to do their part.
Dr. Gersin stresses on aftercare and makes sure that you know that it is something that you will have to comit to for the rest of your life. They have a great aftercare program. They have their own support group meetings; usually on the third Thursday of every month. My best advice is, attend the support groups and talk with other patients that have had this surgery.
I have not yet had my surgery, it is coming up in two days. However, I feel very confident in Dr. Gersin. He has both a great bedside manner and surgical competence. I trust in Dr. Gersin so much that I travel about 3 hours (one way) to go to him. He was highly recommended to me and I am glad he was.
Again, I feel that I could not have made a better choice in physicians. DR. GERSIN AND HIS STAFF ARE GREAT!!!!!!
