I found dr Bauman to be very professional and concerned about my overall success. He and his staff are strictly about business and he came accross as well qualified. The aftercare program thfough the dietician he recommends is good. The doctor definitely ensured that I understood the risks involved with the surgery. I had no complications and found the surgery to be quite easy!
I have been very impressed with Dr B and his staff. I felt like I was calling them all the time to ask questions but they never minded. When I had my consultation Dr B had me watch a video he did a couple years ago which went over the technical aspects of the different types of surgery. For me it was a bit of review, since I did a lot of research before even scheduling a consultation, but my support person found it very informative. After the video, my friend and I were waiting for Dr B and were talking about the Harry Potter books and when he came in he joined in our conversation. I felt very confortable with him. He was very personable but not overly so and he was extremely professional. I feel like I've made the best choice in waiting to have surgery until now. When I lived in Statesville I was refer to a doctor in which I did not have the confidence I have in Dr B.
Dr Bauman is a wonderful and caring Doctor. His office and staff were and still are wonderful to me. They have helped and answered questions from day one. Dr Bauman is very detailed about his work and takes great pride in helping other to have a better life. If you live anywhere in the Charlotte/Concord area don't wait-Go see Dr Bauman and start a better life.
I met Dr. Gersin at my initial consultation on October 7th. He was very friendly and helpful. I've read other comments about his dry sense of humor...I must have caught him on a different day. He was talkative and interesting and truly seemed to care about me as a person. I selected Dr. Gersin based on the fact that he performs the lap RNY, is Board Certified, and is Director of the Fellowship of Bariatric Surgery at University of Cincinnati. His qualifications are top notch in my book.
His entire office staff were wonderful and very helpful. They have a process set up where you meet with one person at a time to ensure that you are covered on everything, including insurance. Each and every person was knowledgeable and helpful and made me feel as if I was part of the office staff rather than a patient. I was very comfortable with everyone. All my questions were answered. I was even given a binder with a ton of before/during/after information and a place to add recipes and questions, etc.
Aftercare is a huge part of Dr. Gersin's practice. He isn't just your surgeon, he continues to see you for the rest of your life on an annual basis, more if necessary. There are support groups held at least once a month and you are required to attend at least one prior to surgery.
Overall, I would rate Dr. Gersin and his entire team a 10++ overall. I'm very excited that I've chosen this practice.
When my husband and I walked into Dr. Bauman's office he was sitting in the office and I walked up to the glass and he looked at me and waved at me as if he had known me all his life. He was so friendly and helpful. The office staff was also very sweet and informative. I am looking forward to getting scheduled for surgery.
When I met with Dr. Gersin, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice he was and how he had a real "down to earth" vibe about him. He was very informative and I got a good feeling about him right off the bat. I think that my doctors recomendation on seeing Dr. Gersin was a good call. Office staff could not have been better from the initial person that did my blood pressure and temp to Dr. Gersins assistant to the financial person. Don't expect him to sit around and blow smoke up your butt. He is very straight forward and tells you how it is. I like that. I also feel like his competence is above par. He went over everything and since I had been researching a little I knew that what he said was right and made good sense. After he did my surgery and after seeing him over the course of several months, I know that I made a very wise decision on having him as my doctor. I will refer people to him and as of right now, I have the utmost respect for him. I wish that everyone went to him for their surgery. I would not be lying if I said, I love this man. He will always be the best of the best and I wish him and his staff nothing but the best.
my first impression of dr bauman was that he was very knowledgable in his profession and also cared about what was the best option for the patient. his office staff was very professional and polite and offered to help me in any way possible, before and after surgery. dr bauman is very adamant that a patient be totally committed to a life-style change after surgery. if you think this is a one-time thing and you don't have to watch you diet and do exercise, then you need not even apply. dr bauman requires that a post-op patient see a nutritionist every month for 1 year to make sure they are getting enough nutrients and are eating the right foods. this program is mandatory. before the actual consultation you have to watch a video about all types of gastric bypasses and then dr bauman discusses the type of bypass he performs and the risks of it. he really wants you to understand that this is major surgery and with major surgery comes big risks. he really likes for the patient to have done some research on the bypass on their own so that they realize that it is indeed a life-style change. mr bauman's office is very busy. it took me almost 3 months to get a consultation with him and the consultation lasted close to 3 hours. my first experience with dr bauman and his staff was a very good one.
My first impression of Dr. Roc Bauman was one of great comfort. I had had gallstones since June of 2001. At least that was when it was diagnosed. I had the pain for about three months before that. It took two months to get in to the specialist my PCP referred me to.
I was amazed and relieved when I finally met Dr. Roc and he had me scheduled for gallstone removal surgery within two weeks.
I felt so comforted by his simple pat on the shoulder before surgery, that I slept far too long after surgery was over. I was so relieved that the gallstone attacks were over. I even slept like a babe the whole next day.

Which is better, surgical competence, bedside
manner, or both great? 1. Surgical competence. 2. Both
Dr. Roc Bauman is just wonderful!! his staff is excellent and I always felt confident in his care. I could not have been happier with my selection of this practice. He fully addressed the risks, complications etc. of the surgery, he is genuine! From the front check-in desk to the exam room, I was treated with respect - some thing that obese people do not always experice.
