I am a Licensed Psychologist with 7 years experience performing evaluations prior to surgery (as well as working with bariatric patients).  I offer an accepting, nonjudgmental atmosphere and people report feeling at ease quickly after meeting me.  While there are necessary areas that must be covered in any evaluation with all patients, my style is relaxed and informal.  The goal is NOT to screen you OUT of surgery, but to be as sure that you are as ready as possible pre-op, and that you will be successful in the long-term.  Past or present depression, anxiety or other psychological issues don't automatically discount you from surgery.  Rather it is discussed and recommendations are made to help you be as successful as possible post-surgically.  I also provide surgical evaluations at my private practice office in Silver Spring, MD.
