It has a nice orange-like citrus taste and seems to go down really well. My nutritionist said though that since the total dosage (1 tablespoon) gives you 1200 grams at once, it would be better to take it 3 times daily (1 teaspoon each time) since the body can only absorb about 500 grams each time. Vitamin D and Magnesium are included.

Taking 1.5 Tblsp. of this daily compared to taking 5 or 6 big nasty pills is no contest for me. My nutrionist advises that we need Calcium CITRATE instead of carbonate due to the fact that the carbonate would require stomach acid to break down & absorb, which we will have very little of post-op. Citrate is easiest to absorb. She also recommends 1,500 mg daily, but only in 500 mg doses as that's all we can absorb at one time. So I plan to take 1/2 T. of this 3x a day which will not be a problem!
(indicates that they have not used the product)Although it isn't the greatest tasting thing in the world - nutritionally it packs a punch @ 1200mg calcium citrate in 1 tablespoon. ONCE A DAY! I think I can live with it. After all the debate over calcium carbonate vs calcium citrate...I have chosen the citrate...on the recommendation of the pharmacists that I work with and I feel that the liquid is the easiest way to get it down! :) I still use Tums...but not as a calcium source. I use it if I get a little nasuea after I eat...on the advice again of the pharmacist I work with -- and he hasn't pushed me in the wrong direction yet.
(indicates that they have used the product)I have had problems making a decision in the Carbonate vs. Citrate debate... but now the verdict is in. We must take Citrate with RNY gastric bypass. I am a medical facts person and now have the facts. A friend recommended I try this product and it is wonderful. All the tablets I have tried are horse pills and I needed to take several. I dreaded trying this liquid calcium citrate... it is in a brown glass bottle and is a thick white emulsion... I shook it up, poured a tablespoon and ate it... waiting for the nastiness... BUT IT TASTED EXACTLY LIKE LEMON YOGURT! It is the consistency of a thin yogurt and just one tablespoon provides 1200 mg of highly absorbable calcium citrate in the best form for absorption... LIQUID. This is great stuff. The bottle is a one month supply. I wasted lots of money on trying different calcium supplements and they were ALL terrible except for Viactiv and now I found out we dont absorb them because we dont have acid in our stomach. Try this stuff, it tastes good and is good for you!
