Lawrence Zachary Plastic Surgeon M.D.

I was a "patient advocate" for a fellow support group member who made the great decision to choose Dr. Lawrence Zachary for her belt lipectomy. I was impressed by the comments and feed-back I got from the patient friend who was seeing Dr. Zachary. But when I met him, I was absolutely captivated by him. His knowledge and communication was superb. All questions were answered with a great amount of information. There were no apprehensions about this surgery. You could just tell he was a skilled and confident surgeon, as he presented his "game plan" for the procedure. His work is top notch and the patient was moving about and walking the same night of the surgery. We are looking forward to the patient now getting the drains removed. One could just tell this surgery is a raving success, thus completing the patient's goal of having a smooth and tight body, after a massive weight loss. We are grateful for the excellence and presence of Dr. Lawrence Zachary of the University of Chicago Hospital and Louis A. Weiss Memorial Hospital.

Dr Zachary is quite impressive with his knowledge and expertise. He performed my belt lipectomy on 4/11/05 ... what can I say? I'm in love ... DR Z, won't you come, come, come into my world!

<p>Honestly, Dr Z is a flirt and very down-to-earth. I have received excellent care (from Dr Z and Tas, his nurse) on my 3 follow-up visits. They are both always available for questions. Between them, I always feel very cared about after a visit ... Thanks, Dr Z and Tas!!!!

I have actually had 5 surgeries with Dr. Z in the last 7 years. I had adominoplasty and hernia repair in 2004 and then about every 18 months I have gone back to see him when another hernia appears. He listens to what I have to say and then will explain what he will do to fix it. This last surgery he decided to go radical and change the muscles inside to hopeful prevent any more hernias. This was a MAJOR surgery and took longer in the OR, hospital stay and recovery but it was worth it. I am just days away from my longest record without a hernia! Dr. Z even listened to me when I told him it was time to remove the belly button after it had caused me too much pain and pulling. He didn’t like removing it but I was extremely happy to wake up and find that he had turned me into an angel. (Angels have no belly-button ‘cause they are created not born!) After I win the lottery, Dr. Z will be one of the first I call because I want a lot more fixed!

I am scheduled to have a hernia repair, abdominoplasty and a butt lift on July 2, 2004. I am so excited! Dr. Zachary is great, and makes you feel very comfortable even while pointing out all the things you need to have fixed. LOL! Anyway, I am really looking forward to the surgery and feel very confident in Dr. Zachary and his abilities. I'll post an update after my surgery.

Dr. Zachary (and also Dr. Alverdy) are the two men who changed my life, never in my wildest dreams did I believe I would ever lose weight and look good again. After the laproscopic gastric bypass which I had in Oct,2001 I followed all of Dr Alverdy and his teams suggestions. I had very few problems, and also received an immediate call back from whomever on the team I needed to speak to. I was not looking for a bypass, I needed a bowling ball size hernia above my belly button repaired, however I was to overweight to attempt it, thus the bypass. Dr. alverdy recommended Dr. Zachery and after working with him, I am a new person. It turned out I had three hernias, plus a whole lot of excess belly skin, 11 months later, he did a tummy tuck and repaired the hernias, I was in and out of the hospital quickly, watched carefully on a regular basis and a new person. Dr. Zachary is a miracle worker in my opinion, if you saw my before and after pictures, you would not believe it is the same person, much less that someone is a gifted enough surgeon to make the changes required. He was and still is one of my biggest cheerleaders. I have a whole new look, and a new attitude. I walk with a bounce in my step and I no longer wish God would take me on a daily basis. I have only begun to realize the depths of my depression and the difference in myself today. Dr. Zachary not only saw my body in a way I could never dream of, he also saw my spirit. When I say he changed my life it doesn't do him the justice he deserves. I would go through it all over again with exactly the same Dr's who I truly believe God put into my life. Remember I did not seek this out, circimstances kept presenting themselves in spite of me, not because of me.

Dr. Zachary took a 430 lb. body, and when I saw him I weighed 305 lbs. My first of 6 reconstructions was performed on May 31, 2000, at that time he removed my belly, which weighed over 50 lbs. and required 4 men to lift it off, and he also did my breast reduction. This was 13 1/2 hours of surgery. Then in Nov. 2000 I had a brachioplasty which is the skin on my arms. I healed hypertrophically, which is not anyones fault. I'm sorry to see that people don't realize that the surgeon, in this case Dr. Zachary can only do so much. I continued in Feb. of 2001 and he did my thigh reduction. Again, I had another problem, not Dr. Zachary's fault, but I must say he saw me through it, sent me wherever I needed to get help. In May of 2002 I had my arms redone to try and remove some of the scaring that had occured. This was successful, and my arms look a ton better. In December of 2002 I had my butt which was like a table and my hips done, and again I had a revision of this in Feb. of 2003. My God, to look at me today, you would never realize that its me. Some people that I've known in my life, don't even recognize me. I want to address the fact again, that I didn't have any expectation that Dr. Zachary would be able to make me 34 26 34. My hope was that he would help my quality of life. Which has increased tremendously. I have physical problems that were created long before I even had my bypass. My hats off to the hard work, and tenacity that Dr. Zachary has shown me, plus the fact that I feel not only is he my surgeon, but a friend, he is always concerned, he has a great bedside manor. And once you are his patient he is ALWAYS there for you..Thanks Dr. Z...;-DDDDDD

I am so excited I learn about Dr. Zachary through the other ladies who went him he is awesome. He listens and he knows what you need and tells you when you are wanting too much which is geniune these days to find in a plastic Surgeon. i am scheduled to have an extensive tt and he is going to lipo my back and make me a nice round tush as he says. i am confident in him because he knows his stuff thank you so much to roberta she gave me the inspiration to go.

I am having abdominpalsty and butt lift on 6/30/03 with Dr. Zackary I did alot of resurce on him and I really like him he is very kind and knows what he is talking about.
2/5/04- It has been 6 months since my surgery with Dr. Zackary, and I feel wonderful. The surgery has turned out better than I could have ever wanted, and Dr. Zackarey is the finest man anyone will ever meet.

I am scheduled to have my surgery on 6/23/03, I have had 2 consults with the doctor and am quite pleased with what he has to say.

Not only was Dr. Zachary an amazingly talented surgeon he was successful at making me feel beautiful and "normal" throughout the ordeal. My panniculectomy was 8 hours long and they removed 25 lbs of tissue. He is a magician.
