St. Vincent’s Bariatric Surgery Center
Bridgeport, Connecticut

With obesity now contributing to close to 500,000 deaths per year in the US (where 60 percent of the population is overweight), the Bariatric Surgery professionals at St. Vincent’s identify the need to develop avenues to a healthy weight as a national imperative. Yet they know that one of the hardest things is to face having to shed pounds in the three-digit numbers. It seems too daunting, like a mountain too high to climb even to get out of a valley of depression and self-doubt.

At St. Vincent’s initial free seminar, we provide in-depth information on the two types of surgical procedures that safely help individuals “lose large.” With Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass, the surgeon creates a smaller stomach pouch, limiting amounts of food that can be taken in. Laparoscopic Banding, where a small band is introduced around the stomach to provide similar limitation, offers the opportunity to have the restrictive opening readjusted to varying degrees.

Come to St. Vincent’s and have your questions answered at the seminar and your concerns addressed along the way in consultations with your surgeon. Participate in our twice-a-month support-groups of fellow travelers glad to share their trials and triumphs and eager to hear yours. Talk to us. We’ll show you how the Bariatric Program at St. Vincent’s can give you the opportunity to make a commitment to living a healthy lifestyle and to succeed in sticking with it … not just for a while, but forever.
