I was referred to Dr. Rupp by my PCP. I attended his info session on 4/24/02. The meeting was very informational and Dr. Rupp answered all question's. He seems very down to earth and friendly. I have known of this surgery group (St. Paul Surgeon's) and of Dr. Rupp in particular, and that he has an excellent reputation. This helps me feel confident in my surgeon's abilities and my choice. I'm scheduled to meet with Joyce his nurse who starts the process on 5/20/02. My only disappointment is that if all goes well it may take up to 9 months to have surgery. Mostly due to the lack of operating rooms available.
Dr. Rup has a great introductory session that is very supportive and informative. He and his staff are knowledgeable about the process, working with the various insurance companies, and working with patients. I am excited about my surgery (4/29/02) and working with Dr. Rupp on an outstanding recovery!
My first impression of Dr. Rupp is that he truely cares about fat people. He is not one of those Drs who blames everything on the fact that you need to lose weight. He is sympethetic to the plight of a fat person and the fact that we have tried over and over to lose weight and we just need a little help. I think his office staff is great they are very helpful and knowlegable about all you need to know. Joyce is very helpful. The thing I liked least about Dr. Rupp is that the wait is almost unbearable but as a Dr. I think he is worth the wait. His program is very complete, they don't just do the surgery and leave you hanging there are support groups and help afterwards. I am litteraly putting my life in this mans hands and I am sure I will come out fine. He is very upfront about the risks of the surgery, but he also lets you know about the risks if you don't have the surgery. His competence is amazing and his bedside manner is also wonderful. He makes you feel like an indivdual person instead of just a patient.
He was very knowledgible and told me what to expect in detail.. I just liked him more and more and trusted him more..Very helpful and extremely nice..There was nothing I didn't like..That he is very good at what he does..Very strongly..Yes he does, there is a support group meeting every month and there is also one once a week..He gave me a list of risks..I would rate him a 10..Both are very important to a better healthier you..
My first impression was Dr. Rupp really knew his stuff. I was impressed with his knowledge and his prescence. He has great bed-side manner. I was very comfortable with him. His office staff has been excellent so far. They seem busy but attentive and I've never had to wait long periods of time for response. This is a good thing for me! He encourages after-care and asked me many questions to ensure in my mind and his I was prepared for the surgery. He did discuss risks. My surgery is on Jan. 21st....so my experience w/ Dr. Rupp is far from over! I'm very positive about his skill.
