Great surgeon, great follow-up doctor. I know that the problem with my band is not his fault so placing no blame on him at all whatsoever! He is great! Would recommend him anytime, but would tell people to look more into the lapband and think hard about it before getting it :(

Dr. Rizk ROCKS!! Some surgeons who do this surgery realize that they are literally saving peoples lives and changing them for the better and they have a massive GOD complex. Dr. Rizk is NOT like that at all. He knows he is saving lives and changing them for the better, but he is still down-to-earth and does not act like he is far superior to you, the patient. I couldn't ask for a better surgeon. Do I have anything negative to say? Is he 100% perfect? I suppose he is not as he is human like the rest of us, but he never did anything during my pre-op care, surgery or post-op care that I have complaints about.

Dr. Rizk and his staff are awesome! He has a great structured before and after care program.

Rizk has done over 350 WLSs. He specializes in laparascoptic surgery but will also do the open surgeries. He can be strict at times and has a rule that you cannot gain any more than 5 pounds from your initial weigh-in with him to the day of the surgery. I am constantly hearing that he's a great surgeon and to just LISTEN to what he tells you.

My first impression of my surgeon was wonderful. He was very understanding and explained to me the benefits and risks involved. I was comfortable with him due to the fact he seemed very thorough and someone who was very competent and well educated. I would recommend him without hesitation as a surgeon but would not recommend Mercy Medical Center as a hospital.

I would only like to echo all the positive statements about Dr. Rizk that have already been mentioned. I had my surgery 5 days ago and so far everything has gone better than I could expect. Dr. Rizk is very personable and friendly. He is very matter of fact and doesn't come across as trying to "sell" you on the surgery. As others have mentioned, he is very thorough and doesn't hold anything back, positive or negative. Any patients are treated with the utmost respect and talked to in a non-judgemental manner. He and his office have a very comprehensive program that must be completed prior to surgery, which is very beneficial. I also did a lot of research on the internet and any possible drawbacks I found there were also addressed matter-of-factly by Dr. Rizk and his staff. I would whole-heartedly recommend Dr. Rizk to anyone who is considering weight-loss surgery. I can't imagine being in better hands or being treated in a better, more respectful manner. The only possible negative I can think of is that his visits to me while in the hospital where fairly short, but the care by the nurses was so outstanding, that wasn't so much of an issue. I have another appointment with him in 2 days, which I anticipate will be more lengthy.

I have been very pleased with Dr. Rizk and his staff. I am at a higher BMI than many others, so I was concerned about the surgery not being done laproscopically. But he did a great job, and I have gone back to work in just two weeks. I had more discomfort than pain and have not had any complications.

Dr. Rizk is just friendly enough (I don't need him to be a counselor) and is very professional. He was straightforward with any information, including risks. He does require participation in a structured pre- and aftercare program at the hospital.

His staff are pretty much the same in that regards. I like people who are professionals at their jobs. I'd rather have someone do a really good job and not be friendly than deal with a friendly person who can't get the job done. This is not, of course, to say that Dr. Rizk and his staff aren't friendly because they are.

I would recommend Dr. Rizk to others considering gastric bypass.

I feel that Dr. Rizk is a credit to the practice. He is a general surgeon but specializes in laparoscopic. He is very personal and made sure that everything was inline before, during, and after surgery. Dr. Rizk is very thorough in the process making sure you feel comfortable in what you are about to go through. He is one surgeon that I have come across that doesn't have a "God" complex and not only is a competent surgeon but also a great human being. My rating of him is A+++ in every field and would recommend him to anyone looking for not just a bypass surgeon but for anything general.

I felt totally confident with Dr. Rizk. I wasn't even nervous before the surgery. He explained everything so well, and wanted me to know what to expect. This web site realy helped out to.
