My first impression was that he was very knowledgable and compassionate. My impression never changed. He is still the same. Because I am a nurse, I think he is more open with me on a technical level. His office staff is wonderful. They always have encouraging things to say everytime I see them. There was nothing that I didn't like about him. Any future patients should know that Dr. Weiland may look young, but he has done alot of these surgeries, and is very experienced. For my aftercare, I saw him at 3 months, 6 months, and I will see him at 9 months, and 1 year, then every year following that. Regarding the risks of the surgery, he told my that the biggest risk was leakage and infection. The day following my surgery I had a swallow study done to check for leaks. He was very thorough with telling me any and all complications that could possibly happen. I would rate him a 10 out of a 10. His surgical competence is great, but sometimes it feels as though he is in a rush and doesn't spend as much time with the patients as he probably could.

My first impression of Dr. Weiland was he is a caring man and knows his field well, and I have found out in time my impression was right on. I find his staff to also be very caring and knowlegdable about there paitence and there feild. Dr. Weiland was very right to the point explaining this is only a TOOL to weight loss that alot of work comes after the surgery, and I liked that about him. I picked Dr. Weiland because of having previous surgery with someonoe else in his office and I felt comfortable with there expertees. I would recommend him to anyone thinking of having the surgery. I dont have any negative things to say except he is a typical doctor never on time. (that is a joke..first day i met him he was running late at the dentist; but it showed me he is human also.)

Opinion on Dr Steve Weiland:
I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Weiland. He has a very very good bedside manner. He is straight forward about what to expect and outcomes. I have had friends have him for their R-N-Y surgery and have nothing but good things to say. I think he is a great asset to our area and hope that he is here to stay!!! I found Dr. Weiland to be very straight forward and honest about what to expect from the surgery and what the complications are. He answered all of my questions thoroughly. He kept telling me that this is only a "tool". He was very clear as to what he expected of me before and after surgery. I am glad that my PCP recommended him. He sounds confident in what he does and that in turn makes me confident in him.

August 27,2003 I am now post-op. What a wonderful Doctor. In the last 2 weeks he has shown me his humorous, kind and caring side. He put me totally at ease right before surgery and visited me 3 times a day in the hospital for the 2 1/2 days I was in. I had to call 5 days post-op about pain control and he called me back immediately and was very helpful. I'm glad I followed my gut instincts and had him do my surgery. He has my backing and support 100%.

My first impression of Dr. Steven Weiland was one of complete and total comfort from the moment he started talking to me. He was wonderful pre-op, straight to the point, and very serious about helping me on my journey. In the hospital he was one of the most wonderful doctors I could ask for. He was there when I needed him and visited 1-3 times per day. His positive attitude helped me gain confidence in the first few trying days in the hospital. Post-op checkup was just a wonderful as the first two times I saw him. He was very kind, understanding, informative, and encouraging. He is a doctor who takes the time needed with his patients and helps them feel right as ease.
