I first went to see Dr. Davis in 2008. He was really nice. He and his son work together. I lost my job and recently picked up another insurance this year. I contacted Dr. Davis office to pick up my preparation for the surgery. In October of this year (2009)I went to go see Dr. Davis. I don't know if he was having a bad day or what but he started telling me how he will not do the lap band because it wasn't safe and blah, blah, blah. He told me that the only surgery he would perform was the gastric so I thought the hell with this guy. This was MY body and he had no right telling me what he was going to perform on me! So I started looking around at other Dr.s. Then Dr. Davis office called me back to see what I had decided to do and I told them my experience with Dr. Davis. They asked me to come back in and talk with them. I went back and saw Dr. Davis and this time he was really, really, nice. He told me the reason he did not favor the band. We talked about other options and I decided to keep him. I chose to keep him because of his competence level. He is the Dr. off of big medicine. He and his son has numerous books and articles. I told him I wanted the sleeve, he sat down and discussed all of my options and I was pleased with MY decision

I had seen Big Medicine a couple times and admired the work that the surgeons on the show were doing. I didn't realize that they were in Houston at the time. My step sister (Dori M.) prepared to have the surgery herself and called and told me to go to one Dr. Robert/Dr. Garth Davis' seminars and see if I liked them. rnrnBig D (aka Dr. Robert Davis)gave the seminar I attended. I was very impressed at how informative and thorough the presentation was. I also liked his kind but matter of fact demeanor as I did in the show.rnrnI had my first office visit with him two weeks ago. Again, kind but to the point. He seemed very anxious to help me get the ball rolling because of the state of my health. The staff was wonderful. I'm so glad to begin this journey with this man and his team on my side. rnrn**Thank you sister for leading me to him! Congratulations on your surgery and continued success!**

My first impression of the Davis Clinic was just WOW! We went to the first seminar in December... and fell completely in love with Dr. Garth Davis. They are so professional. He is so enlightened. He really talks TO you... He is amazing... When I made my appointment I decided to see his Dad.. Robert Davis.. and was just as happy.. I have nothing negative to say about them.. or their service.

He was pleasent to speak with and reviewed all my informtion.rnMy impression has not changed. He know's his stuff!rnrnThe office is supportive and helps in any way they can. From insurance questions to surgery dates.rnThere is nothing I dont' like about this man yet. Ask me after surgery.rnrnLet me say this about Dr. Davis he makes sure that you are well imformed before you make your decision on any procedure. You go to classes and they provide you with what you can and can't do. What to eat and not eat, what meds to take over the counter and more... rn

First impression of his clinic very busy and long waiting time, once you meet him very comfortable and matter of fact and honest. It's funny everytime I was face to face with him I forgot any questions I had all intentions of asking. The day of my surgery was not as well cordinated as I would have thought I had to be at the hospital at 8AM and didn't have my surgery to about 2pm the wait again is so long, and my family had different oppinnion about him which wasn't good or the hosptial for that matter which was at University General Hospital, Houston, Tx. As for me I really was comfortable with him and experience and skill was the most important to me.

The first time I met Dr. Robert Davis, I felt at ease with him because he showed his level of expertise. I chose Dr. Davis because of his low complication rates and because he and his son (Dr. Garth Davis)both operate together. That made me feel at ease knowing that two skilled experts were going to operate on me. rnWhat I did not like about Dr. Robert Davis is that he had an assistant instead of him come and follow up with me a week after the surgery. I was told by another patient to insist to see him next time. I figured since his office is always full of people, that he was busy. rnDr. Robert Davis works with the Methodist Hospital (Weight Management Dept.)to assist patients after WLS as a support. I have been going to the support groups since my surgery at The Methodist Hospital. Dr. Davis highly encourages attending support groups for better success rate.rnFuture patients should know that he is vey skilled and has many, many years of gastrointestinal experience. rnIn my opinion, surgical competence is more important than bedside manner. I only saw Dr. Davis twice during my stay at the hospital; right before surgery and the day after surgery in my room. He popped in and went right out. I didn't mind because I knew that he was busy. The fact that I didn't see him that much did not bother me at all but rather what was more important was his level of expertise in performing the surgery. In comparison to other doctors that I had researched, I feel that I made the best choice in choosing Dr. Robert Davis because my surgery went smoothly and I have not had complications since my surgery.rn

My surgeon is Dr. Robert Davis. I've only met him once so far. My pre op appt is Dec. 2. I have been enrolled in their program for about 8 months now. I have really enjoyed it and have learned so much! It has prepared me for surgery as much as I'm gonna get, I guess. Of course I am still nervous, excited ... gosh a million feelings actually. Tameka has been amazing as far as helping get everything together for my insurance company. She is a little brash at first but you have to realize how many people and insurance companies she deals with EVERY day. I don't think I could have gotten approved through insurance without her! As far as Dr. Davis... he is a bit scatter brained, but very smart. He is straight to the point. Over all I've liked him so far.
