I was very impressed with Dr. Mora right from the start because he has the support group on his own time and I felt the had a passion he possesed for the patients he served. After I decided to use him and go for the surgery, I really started to like him even more. His office staff was very knowledgeble especially where the insurance requirement was concerned. They have "always" been sweet and very concerned about each patient individually. Dr. Mora and his staff are very serious about the before and aftercare of the procedure. He is so serious that you must sign an agreement to attend the suppport group for at least the first year post-op. If you don't he will not continue as your physician. He has a great bedside manner but he is very serious. His complication rate is very low nationally. I love him and all he has done for our community as well as me personally.

Dr.Mora is a very quiet, reserved individual. He is a very good listener, and my surgical experience was very positive. I have had 2 instances where I had to be 'stretched' to take care of strictures. I am now (12 months post op) able to eat relatively easily. The office staff is very friendly, and professional at the same time. They helped me with any questions I may have, but they leave the medical questions to the doctor. Dr. Mora is fanatical about giving us the tool to learn how to eat and to be healthy, and he gives us all the information we need to play by the rules. His after surgery program is strict, but it has worked beautifully for me. I highly recommend Dr. Mora and if I ever need further surgery, I will certainly use him. I trust him and know that he is very capable and caring.
I wasn't too sure about Dr. Mora at first. He seemed like maybe he'd been up all night or something. He just didn't seem to be very personable. But, in his defense, when you first meet Dr. Mora it's in a group setting. You watch a video and take a True/False test. I've researched this surgery for over two years and didn't hear anything I hadn't already heard. But, there were some people with a lot of questions. So, I can only imagine the types of people/questions he has to deal with. I'm not saying asking questions is bad. I just believe you should have an understanding about the surgery and risks/benefits before talking to a surgeon. After the group meeting. I met with Dr. Mora for an individual consult and he was great! He is very detail oriented and wants to be positive you know that this surgery is a tool not a solution. He seems to be very caring. He requires you to go to three support group meetings pre-op and six post-op. I think this is very important. I've attended one and was very impressed that he and two of his nurses were there. I just figured this was something he set up and he didn't actually attend. His office staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. I love Denise! She's the one that handles the insurance and helped set up all my other appointments.
My first impression of Dr. Mora is that he is very straight forward,he does not beat around the bush,he tells you like it is. He is very caring and always willing to answer any question that you may have. His staff is great they also are very helpful and available to you. He has a very structured after care program and he puts a great deal of emphsis on exercise.
My first impression of Dr. Mora was good, but he was very short and to the point like most surgeon. After I attended the first group meeting, I felt a lot better about him. He seemed to open up more with a large group v/s a one on one meeting.
My impression change for the good he more meetings I attended and the more visites I had with Dr. Mora. I, just as many of you had seconds thoughts about the surgery. I was not sure in the beginning that the surgery was for me. I enjoyed eating and the thought that I was not going to be able to eat what I wanted when I wanted it was not my idea of a good life. Dr. Mora, his staff and all of his post-op pt. change my mind, and help me relizes that I did not need food to be happy with my life. Have the surgery was the best move I have ever made for myself.
My post-op care has also been GREAT!! I have had several follow-up's and went to a few group meetings. Dr. Mora has been great through it all.
As in any surgery the risk is there. Dr. Mora explains the risk very clearly and answered any "?" I had.
Overall I would rate Dr. Mora and his staff as "A"+++. The only negative thing I can say about him is lose the "surgeon attitude", which is really not that bad when you get to know him. He seems to be a quite person which could also make him seem to have a surgeon attitude. He was a little late onmaking rounds at the hospital. Of course, when you are not feeling real good no one is fast enuff.
MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR MORA WAS THAT HE GETS STRAIGHT TO THE POINT AND DOES NOT TRY TO MAKE THE SURGERY SOUND LIKE SOMETHING IT IS NOT. HIS STAFF IS VERY INFORMATIVE ABOUT THE SURGERY ALSO. DR MORA STRESSES EXERCISE AFTER THE SURGERY AND THAT THIS SURGERY IS ONLY A TOOL AND YOU HAVE TO CHANGE YOUR OLD HABBITS.
Dr. Mora is quiet, but very thorough and professional-to the point. His support group is awesome and his staff is wonderful too! So far, they have been nothing but helpful and eager to assist me in the insurance approval process. It means alot to have someone on the other end of the phone who understands and takes my anxieties seriously enough to take action, whether it be with the insurance company, or whether it be to lend an ear to my venting!
Honestly, I haven't had any negative experiences with Dr. Mora or his staff. I do wish, though, that Dr. Mora was a little more personable, but that's not his nature. He does his job and knows his information. I appreciate that immensely--when I'm "under" it doesn't really matter what kind of bedside manner he has, now does it! What matters to me is his knowledge of and his ability to perform the procedure--and I'm comfortable with that, or else I wouldn't be allowing him to operate on me!
