Nicholas Bertha Bariatric Surgeon D.O., F.A.C.S.

After some research, I determined Dr. Bertha was the surgeon for me. I had no reservations after hearing him speak and answer questions at the new patient seminar, and after meeting him for my consultation. The office staff was terrific and very helpful. I was scheduled for a 10:00 consultation, and was in and out in about 90 minutes, including the meeting with the scheduler/insurance person. I had read horror stories about sitting there for hours..none of it happened. Guess I picked a good day, or things just move more smoothly now. Anyway, I've done extended research on this surgery (Lap RNY Gastric Bypass) and feel I have all the knowledge I need going into this. Dr. Bertha is a very nice man who seems to be great at what he does, the record shows that. I'm completely satisfied!

I was very comfortable with the doctor. He answered all of my questions and explained all of my options. His office staff was very helpful.

Dr. Bertha was very nice and professional. He discussed the pros and cons of both the bypass and the lapband. He told me to get feedback from both groups of post-op support groups to make my decision. His office staff was very nice and helpful.

He is wonderful. My immpression of Dr. Bertha only got better. Both he and his office staff have been extremely helpful and understanding.

I would recommend him without a second thought. There is an insurance specialist in his office, a nutritionist, and if your insurance does not cover his nutritionist, The Bariatric Center in Moristown Memorial Hospital works with him also. (You can get you phsyc eval there to). That's how I had to work it.

I received a step by step book starting with pre op and then explaining with detail, full detail each phase. When this book was given to me it was at a mandatory pre op meeting that you (and other pre op's) met with the nurse, nutritionist and the Dr. himself. They all explained the risks, the structure you must be dedicated to and emphasized their support.

Surgical competence & his bedside manor are both excellent. The only thing is if you have to call after hours you speak to the surgeon who is on call. I guess you could request your for him to call you back?

I met Dr. Bertha for my first visit on 10-07-04 and I found him to be very pleasant. He answered all my questions and helped me decide on the bypass. I was thinking about the band but with my eating habits and how much I need to lose he thought that I would be a better benefit by the bypass. I am a little scared with such a big surgery and the possibility of leaking and possible death. I think that I just need a little more support right now to help me get through this. My surgery is scheduled for 10-26-04 so any kind words will surly welcomed.

I felt very comfortable in the hands of Dr. Bertha. The office staff is very pleasant and they answered any and every question I had. This Team is very well organized and they know there stuff. I would recommend them to anyone considering the Gastric Bypass Surgery.
