I had my consultation with Dr Cooperstone on 11/2/06. I was very nervous for no reason at all. The office staff was very friendly and made me feel quite comfortable. When I met with the doctor...I liked him right away. He is very down to earth and gives you plenty of opportunities for questions. He made sure I understood the procedure and even showed me illustrations....I was impressed. I immediately knew this was the doctor that would do my surgery
I met Dr. Cooperstone, I think we were both shy. I had a few questions but he went over everything all the risks. I feel pretty confident with his skills. He explained after care is very important. I have to see him again soon so I'll see how it works out. I met with the Dr. again and I felt much better he went over everything again and I feel totally confident in his skills.
Dr. Cooperstone was personable right to the point with a dry sense of humor. He explained every aspect of the surgery answered any questions I had. He explained all the risks of surgery. He gave me a packet of information and put me in the right direction in regards to pre-surgery requirements. There was no pressure placed no insults (I thought for sure I would be leaving in tears) i have always been so sensitive about the weight issue. His secretary, Fern was extremely pleasant, helpful, cheey and supportive. Feel free to call with any questions. Most of all there were NO signs about fees, co-payments etc.rnAt this point it has only been one visit but I certainly would reccomend Dr. Cooperstone
i met with doc c when my husband saw him for the first time. i couln't figure him out at first. he seemed nice but my initial meeting was not on the top of my list for my special people.rnrnwhen i met him the second time i was able to warm to him a little more.rnbut when we went to a picnic of all his patients , that was the opening of more cordial feelings on my part. especially when he criticized my beef jerky and called it rubber.rnthe next time was when i said i wanted to wear a certain outfit to show how truly overweight i am. his response was everthing made me look fat. beside almost making me want to punch him out, i had to laugh at that.rnrnfern is dr c's right hand girl. she arranges for everything and is pretty darn nice. she too has lost a lot of weight. she plans all the pre-surgery and post surgery meetings which are good eye openers for those people who are searching for answers.rnrnthe 2 things which are truly stressed during those meetings are 1- walking and 2-the honeymoon feature of weight loss after this kind of surgery. rnrnso if you don't follow the rules you just as well shouldn't go for the surgery.
I cant say enough about this wonderful surgeon. What he has done for me is outstanding.
He is direct and blunt, very honest. Which is what a person needs. Not bravado and false hope.
The staff is awsome. Fern did it all, and again is honest and tells you exactly what to expect. She handled all the paperwork and made it easy and worry free.
Dr. Cooperstone has an excellent pre-op service. He holds meeting once a month for pre-op people to meet former patients and the staff. This was such a bonus seeing real people in real time after the surgery speaking to me.
The aftercare program is awsome. We meet one time a month and have functions throughout the year. We become family.
There are groups who walk and exercise together. The care does not stop. The support is amazing.
Dr. Cooperstone did not sugar coat the risks. He also gives a quiz, to make sure you do have a full understanding of the risks. He is willing to make the time. He and his staff visit the patients in the hospital after surgery.
I rate this doctor a perfect 10!
When I first met Dr. Cooperstone he had a dry sense of humor, but when you get to know him he is kind of funny. He is very sensitive to you the patient and has an excellent bedside manner which was very important if I was to consider this surgery.
His staff in his office is nothing less than excellent! They take their time with everything you need explained and are very thorough. If I had to recommend Dr. Cooperstone to anyone I would say he is a good listener, a good explainer, and a very good doctor who has a great bedside manner.
The aftercare is emphasized alot! I was told that it is a lifetime commitment. The whole staff ensures that you are well educated in this reguard. The risks of surgery was discussed in detail until I was comfortable and made sure of everything that was talked about. I rate Dr. Cooperstone a 10. His surgical competence and more importantly for me his listening skills and bedside manner is awesome!
I was referred to Dr. Cooperstone by my pulmonologist and also a friend. My first impression was a good one, he was very thorough and explained ALL the possible complications. He did not pressure into surgery- he simply laid out the info and said go home and think about it. Dr. Cooperstone has a great sense of humor and makes you feel very comfortable. His office staff, Dorothy and Fern are fabulous! Dr. Cooperstone emphasizes the importance of aftercare and has both pre and post op meetings every month, which I have found very informative and helpful! I would rate Dr. Cooperstone a definite "10"- there is nothing negative I can think of.
