    Dr. Montgomery graduated from Columbia University and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He did his surgical residency and a trauma research fellowship at the University of Washington and is board certified, a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery, a member of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery, the Council for Advances in Bariatrics as well as the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons. He was a busy general laparoscopic surgeon for 10 years at the Everett Clinic until dedicating his practice to weight loss surgery in November 2002. Dr. Montgomery is a true pioneer in bariatric surgery and has spent nearly 11 years working exclusively with patients battling obesity. He is committed to involvement in clinical research, cultivating innovation in the field, and advancing surgical techniques. Through the leadership of Dr. Montgomery and his colleagues, Northwest Weight Loss Surgery has been designated as a “Center of Excellence”. This prestigious certification has been granted for both their clinic and surgery center, for meeting stringent standards in surgical care. Dr. Kevin Montgomery’s vast academic publications include work on adjustable gastric banding in an ambulatory surgery center, and studies on laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding outcomes, including quality of life at one year, and the experiences of 400 consecutive patients. Dr. Montgomery has been awarded the National Research Service Award and the NIH Basic Research Trauma Fellowship for his extensive research contributions. When he is not in the office, he enjoys spending time with his family at his horse farm, running and skiing.
