Dr. Marshall is very personable and very knowledgeable. His staff is very helpful. He was very thorough in regards to what happens during surgery and the possible side effects. He has always taken the time to answer all my questions during visits. This puts him somewhat behind on keeping appointment times, but you know he will take the time to talk with you as well as others.
I can't say enough good things about Dr. Marshall. He is experienced, kind, compasionate, and has a sense of humor too! I completely trust him. His office staff is wonderful. Aftercare is very important to Dr. Marshall. He even gives patients his personal pager number which I had hever heard of before. I would recommend Dr. Marshall to anyone considering WLS.
My first impression of Dr Marshall was that he was wonderful, funny and very knowledgable and sure knows his business,,,,,asl time went on I only confirmed all that to be true and more, He is the BEST. I love him, I would never recommend anyone else, He's kind, patient , caring, always has time for you no matter how busy he is andddddd on top of all that hes good, good good doctor, His staff is excellent and Ive never been in the hospital on a unit where EVERYONE is so so nice,,,,they care, their helpful, and Dr Marshall insist every one be very friendly and curteous, it is wonderful on the bariatric unit at henry ford hospital where Dr marshall does his thing,,,,,,,AND AFTER ALL THAT, He also does all his own tummy tucks and all that, and if there are complications, bowel no matter what, he does it all.......HE IS JUST FABULOUS.............Im sorry the only thing negative I can say is its a ways to drive if you dont live near Detroit, If you dont believe thats all bad I can say, go to his web site and you'll see all the testemonials are the same way,,,,,,Hes unbelievable
Dr. Marshall is a great guy. He explained everything to me in terms I could easily understand and has a great sense of humor. His office staff is great too, friendly and efficient. He also makes sure you are doing the right things to get the maximum benifit from your surgery and become truely healthy.
Dr Marshall is a wonderful surgeon and I am so happy with what he did for my mom and myself. He is very clot conscious which is good I think. Dr. Marshall's office staff are great ladies. They will answer any questions that you may have. I have to say that Dr. Marshall is a very bust man and at our last appointment we were there just short of 2 hours only seeing him for 20 minutes at the most. He is very specific about the vitamin supplements you should be taking and expresses the importance of regular excercise. Both his surgical competence and bedside manner are excellent. NO complaints here.
My first impression of Dr. Marshall was that he was down to earth and extremely funny. (MY kind of guy) He was patient and answered everyones questions. (I met him at a info. seminar at a LivLite meeting)
Since then I have had my consultation with him, talked about the surgery and which one he wants to do and why. I am trusting him with my life...he just gives that kind of aura off. Great guy and from what I hear from everyone who has gone to him, a great surgeon.
He emphasizes your aftercare HEAVILY..starts out by saying that you may die if you do not have the surgery and you will die if you do not follow post op instructions and do the post care with him.
You have a 30 page document of aftercare to follow and his phone and pager number to call 24/7.
He sits down at the consultation for 1½ hrs and talks about the risks and the different kinds of surgery and why he does the procedure he does and why it will work for you if you work with it.
He is terrific!!!!
Dr. Marshall first impressed me as being very laid back and personal.
He is very informed and ggod at what he does. His bedside manner is just great. He's very straight with you but yet he's sensitive as to the way he explains things to you. You are given his office and pager number and he is very involved in the aftercare. All follow ups are at his office, he doesn't just send you back to your primary or family doctor. I would recommend him to any of my own family and or freinds.
Basically, if you are looking for a competent and well bedside mannered doctor, Dr. Marshall is both of these.
Dr.Marshall is the best.He gave me his cell phone number after surgery in case I had a question or problem.I got a wound infection and he called me every day to make sure I was doing better and not so worried.Even after surgery(I'm 22 months out) He is still there for questions or concerns. He is one in a million!!!!!
My first impression of him was very good. He was very polite and concerned. He explained in detail about the surgery and was never rushed. I became more impressed with him over time. He really knows his field and is caring. He gives you his office number, fax number, as well as his pager number and calls back very quickly no matter the time of day. He never gets upset if you call and need something and is always understanding. The only time he is delayed in calling back is when he is in surgery and even then he calls as soon as he is out.
The office staff could not be nicer, they knew more about me than just as a patient and are always friendly and willing to answer any questions.
The only negative thing is because he is so thorough with all his patients and takes time with everyone, the wait in the waiting room can be long at times. However, I was never bothered by this because all the patients sit and talk and have a mini support group meeting while we wait. He is very concerned with after care, he always asks about how eating is going, and always emphasizes vitamins and minerals, and exercise. He is also so helpful in teaching anything that you need to learn. He prescribes a blood thinner immediate post op for about a week and then puts everyone on vitamin B12 shots and is more than happy to teach how to give them. He was extremely thorough in explaining all the risks, not only what they are, why they happen, what he does to prevent complications, what happens if it something would happen, and how he will treat them. On a scale of 1-10, I would give Dr. Marshall a 20. I cannot stress how much I liked and recommend him. Also, I would like to say that I was able to shadow Dr. Marshall before my surgery (because I am also interested in Osteopathic medicine, and he let me shadow him and then wrote me a recommendation letter which helped me get accepted into Osteopathic medical school). So I can tell you first hand that he is very competent in the operating room, I know not only from my surgery, but also observing him operate. So I can tell you with confidence that Dr. Marshall has great surgical competence and wonderful bedside manner. He is the best doctor I have ever had. I would recommend Dr. Marshall to anyone who is considering having gastric bypass surgery.
