How can I put this? Choosing the right doctor is as important as making the decision to have WLS. I absolutely loved Dr. Nishi! From my first introductory appointment to a visit both days in the hospital, Dr. Nishi was professional and answered every one of my questions and there were a lot! Patience is a virtue, and he is kind, caring & compassionate. I was able to meet a few of the other doctors in the practice and they were wonderful too. He informed me of the risks without making me feel scared out of my wits. His office staff have continually gone over what is expected from me post-op as far as diet. I feel any question I have is just a phone call away. I'm very fortunate to have such a great surgeon and I encourage anyone to make an appointment. I drove 2 hours to select him as my surgeon...if I had to drive 12, I'd still do it in a heart beat. ~j
Dr. Nishi is a very kind surgeon. He cares about the patient pre-op and post-op. I have not had any negative experiences with him. I would reccomend him to anyone wanting WLS. His office staff is very informative and very patient oriented. They have been very helpful in my weightloss journey. I have not had any negative experiences with the staff at Cedars Sinai.rnI was well informed of the risks and possible complications of the surgery, Dr. Nishi informed me. I would rate Dr. Nishi a 10 out of a scale of 1 to 10. rnI think that surgical competence and bedside manner are both important. A doctor should demonstrate competence in both aspects when dealing with any patient. Dr. Nishi and his team has both.
Very friendly, eager to answer all questions.rnrnMy impression of him has remained constant.rnrnHis office staff are also very friendly and helpful, especially Brandi (RN).rnrnI can't really say there's anything I like least about him.rnrnI would certainly recommend him as a surgeon.rnrnAftercare is very important, and the program at Cedars is set up to address this. rnrnWe had several conversations about the risks and benefits of this surgery, and I feel I was fully informed.rnrnI would rate him at 9 out of 10, only because no one can be perfect. But I haven't had any negative experiences with him.rnrnHe has both surgical competence, and great bedside manner.
I absolutely love my surgeon, Dr. NIshi. He is a great man and has been incredibly helpful throughout this process. He is very personable and friendly and above all, he always makes me feel relaxed and calm. He has this great ability to just make you feel like everything will be okay. rnI had some very minor complications with my RNY, which were no fault of his, just the kind of things that sometimes happen. Through it all, he was always very open and understanding about it all. He gave me plenty of information and was always there to return calls or questions. His staff is amazing as well! They have a direct line that goes straight to the nurses and they answer any and all of your questions. They are supportive and sweet and have made things a lot better and more manageable for me.
The first impression Dr. Nishi gives is one of professionalism and assuredness. He presented the procedure in vivid detail and was not in a rush for questions and answers. My impression remains the same one year later.rnHis office and staff are very accomidating.rnHis aftercare is strictly by his programs book and dietician's advise.rnHis rating would be quite high - a 10 of 10.rnHis bedside manner and that of all his staff and partners was excellent. His training as a CCU/ICU physician makes him a very valuable assest to the whole expereince.
My impessions of Dr Nishi, are htat he is a well informed and knowledgable surgeon. He answered all of my pre-op questions, and took the additional time to make sure I understood. He had visual aids available in his office for refence. His facilities were top notch. He has an office on the Cedars Sinai campus, and has priveledges in the hospital at Cedars Sinai. Dr Nishi's staff was very kind. A very nice and wonderful group of people. They are able to help you with jsut about anything. Before my sugery they had me meet with their phsychiatrist and nutritionist. Their nutritionist was able to set me up on my post op diet and help me maintain it throught the 1st critical 6 wks. I summary I would rate Dr Nishi, very well. He is very competent both in the OR and at your bedside. Very trustable surgeon. rn
I liked Dr. Nishi when I went for my consult, he semed very professional, and made me feel at ease.rnI'm and LVN, or in some states they are called LPNs and I know surgeons can be very business like, just because of the nature of the job they do, but he seems very detached.rnThey office staff is very nice, I liked my nurse that case managed my visits.rnHis way of being detached, I know its a surgeon thing, but when I am having emotional issues post op he didin't have a clue how to help me.rnHe is very professional, and if your not the emotional type you will like him.rnHe emphasizes aftercare on a physical basis, mine is emotional.rnHe went over the risks of surgery on my first visit and again on my pre-op.rnCedars aftercare program consists of a post op 7 to 10 days after, a one month check up and every 3 months for the first year to check bloodwork and progress.rnAs a surgeon, very good.rnBoth are great.
Dr. Kai is kind and compassionate. He was extremely patient in describing the procedures (benifits and risks). I asked tons of ? over and over and everytime he answereed with thoughtfulness. The office staff is very good, they keep track of your prerequesites and encourage you. I had to reschedule the nutricionist and social worker many, many times and everytime they very understanding. The office is well run and they have everything under control, they are extremely proffesional and work very well with you....I recommend Dr. Kai and his office, highly
Dr. Nishi was such a nice surgeon! I first met him at the conference Cedars had that talked about WLS and the bariatric center there.

When I had my consult with him in December, he was so sweet and took the time to answer all of my questions. I did not feel rushed at all.

The center gave me so much information, including a 4 or 5 page booklet that talked about everything that I would be needing to have done and when. It's really helped me to not stress about what I need to do next becuase it's all right there for me.

The dietician and the social workers are very nice, too, and the office staff is so helpful in scheduling appointments and working with my PCP to get everything taken care of.
