My first impression of him was good because he seemed very educated about the surgery and explained everything thoroughly. My impression has not yet changed. His staff is very professional except for one person that I had a problem with which hasn't spoiled the bunch. He is very serious about aftercare and will not perform the surgery unless you commit to aftercare. Dr Sosa is very blunt about the risk of the surgery and overall he is an excellent surgeon and great informant. His bedside manners are great he comes in lets you know everything that is needed and no more.

Very confident about his work & his ability to help me. Although he stressed the possible risks of surgery, at the same time he let me know that he would be able to help me - that I was not beyond it. Impression has not changed so far, I have been totally impressed with his work - as well as his care for his patients. Only a Dr. who cares would have put together the post-op program he has in place.

Office staff is very pleasant, and supportive.

Future patients should be reassured that everything will be done to ensure a happy outcome.

Aftercare is stressed very heavily, and the Nutritionists & trainers are present to help with each new step.

I would rate him a 10... (out of 10). Both bedside manner & competence are great.

I guess my only negative is the distance I have to travel ...

First impression of Dr.Sosa was that he seemed down to earth. Which turned out to be the truth in my point of view. The office is always pleasant and courteous. Sometimes seeming more excited than you are.

Dr.Sosa emphasizes on the after care strongly. You must sign a commitment at the office. Everytime you speak to him he asks if you have things in order. If you are unsure of where to go and what to do. He also offers and aftercare program with membership to a his fitness center so that there is no excuse.

In his seminar and at the office, if you still have questions, he explains the benefits/disadvantages/risks of the surgery.

I give Dr.Sosa 5 stars (on a scale of 1-5). Both his surgical comptetence and bedside manner were exceptional, I couldn't made a better choice.

Dr. Sosa came recommended to me by my sister who had her surgery with him in September. My mother then had her surgery in January. I finally went to his seminar. It was very informative. I was impressed with his track record, his regard for his patients and his knowledge of the surgery and requirements for follow-up. However, he seems very confident (as he should be) which may come off to some as being cocky. (It's because he knows what he's doing people!)

When I met Dr. Sosa it was if I knew him all my life. He is very easy going at the orientation he made everyone feel so calm and very relax. Dr. Sosa answer any and every question that was ask. I didn't have any doubt about having Dr. Sosa perform my surgery. Dr. Sosa is a blessing to me because, I thank God for sending him.

I was referred to Dr. Sosa by my well trusted and loving family doctor Eric Fernandez MD.

I thought Dr. Sosa was really nice and he made me feel comfortable. His staff is awesome. Everyone is always in a good mood and very curtous. I love that. I feel good when I speak with them because they are all so sweet.

A lot of people disagree with his aftercare program. It's too costly people say.

Firstly, I refuse to but a price on my happiness. Secondly, I spend 5 times more buying XXL clothing and eating out at restuarants. Thirdly, the operation is a tool which must be combined with good structure. Excercise, Vitamins, and a Support Group is essential to long life success with WLS.

Therefore, I would not trade my new circle of friends who care about me after a year of surgery, a circle of friends who are rooting for me and my health and not for me to be just another number.

By all means, have surgery with another doctor as Florida is full of great doctors. But make sure they are always available when you need them and make sure they are on top of you and your recovery if you are not.

I thank God that I am able to put my life into the hands of Dr. Sosa and his awesome staff!

I will post my comments POST -OP...

***This surgeon I have not yet seen, I changed due to problems in the scheduling process with Dr. Wizman. Aetna provides for precertification while 6 months are in progress but Dr Wizman's office will not do that! Dr Sosa was recommended to me so I am beginning this journey with another surgeon who will hpefully be the one I need!

I really liked Dr. Sosa's orientation. It was very thorough, more so than other orientations I had seen elsewhere at other facilities. My first impression of him was a favorable one. He seems very knowledgable and sensible. He's very funny and keeps things humorous while always being very direct and specific about the surgery information, the risks and complications, etc...

He takes the aftercare program very seriously and emphasizes it probably more than anything else. He requires his patients to use his fitness facility after his surgery because it is his sincere belief that if he didn't require it of them, they would get lax and not do it. This type of reasoning may anger or offend some people. I for one appreciate that he thinks AHEAD for us this way; it can only help his patients. Let's face it, if we weren't lax about our fitness regimen (among other things), we wouldn't be having this surgery now, would we? I have a lot of confidence in his program so far and my surgery is scheduled for next Wednesday and I'm sure I will have a lot more to say about Dr. Sosa in the future.

My first impression of Dr. Jorge Sosa was a good one, I thought he seemed very concerned about his patients. He had a very informative group seminar, but hats when you learn that he will not peform wls on anyone unless you pay him $5,000.00 to use his gym facilitie. Each patient must pay up fornt before surgery $2,500. then follow up installments for the rest or he will not perform the surgery. He was interviewed on local tv and stated that he does this because he feels that no one would follow any type of excerise program.

I was lucky (I think) and was able to pay my downpayment, and had my wls 327/02. I feel that Dr. Sosa is an excellent surgen, I had little pain after my lap rny, and so far no complications at all. As a surgen, I think he is one of the best, as a business man he is also one of the best.

The staff at Dr. Sosa's office for the most part are very nice and helpful, they answer questions, and return calls. I have no complaint there at all.

What I least like about him is his all knowing attitude that since we are mo people we will not try to help ourselfs after surgery. He feels that once we have the wls, we will still be lazy fat people.

Dr. Sosa feels very strongly about after care, but he charges a lot for it. His structured aftercare program cost $5,000.
Dr. Sosa does explain the risks involved with wls, I think he covers everything very well.

I would give Dr. Sosa a high rating as a surgen, He is good at what he does. His program is what i feel is abuseive to patients. I dont feel he should say to anyone if you dont do my program which by the way is a $5,000 out of pocket expense, i will not operate on you. I think that is very unfair.

His surical competence is excellent, bedside manner good.
