My first impression of Dr. Ray was very good. I went to him after he was highly recommended by 2 close family members that he had also done surgery on. His office staff is WONDERFUL! Blount Memorial Hospital has a great program for educating you on what you'll need to do to be successful. The whole program is very thorough. Each time I have gone to Dr. Ray he has been kind and up-beat. He makes sure that he answers any questions I have and also his faith is evident in what he says and does.

My surgeon is DR.JOHANTHON RAY, he is awesome. I have never had a doctor that has such a sweet spirit about him. The day of my pre-op visit he came in the room and noticed that I was a little nervous about the whole thing,The first thing he done was asked me if my husband and I would like to pray with him. I really liked that I have been to alot of doctors before and have never had one that asked to pray with me. To me that is very special BECAUSE WITHOUT GOD NOTHING IS POSSIBLE, AND I'm glad that my surgeon belives that. So if your thinking about having wls and you are looking for a suregon, I highly recommend DR.JOHNATHON RAY

Dr. Ray is a wonderful Christian man. I loved that he prayed with me at my first visit. I first met him when he taught the Lap Band seminar. He has proven to be very informative and accessible. He and his partner even attend some of the Lap Band support group meetings, which is indicative that they truly care about their patients. The people in his office are all very nice and helpful. I would highly recommend them.

I thought he was a great person. My impression only grew more each time I met him. His office staff is one of the greatest that I've ever met. There is nothing bad I can say about him. He is a great surgeon with his patients at heart. He emphasizes after care greatly. He went over all the aspects and the risks of surgery with me. I would give him an A+ rating. Both his surgical competence and bedside manner are the greatest.

My first impression of Dr Ray was that I was so pleased that he is a very spiritual man. I love that he prays with his patients before they leave his office. He gives all his praise to God for giving him the knowledge to be the wonderful surgeon that he is. There was nothing that I did not like about Dr. Ray he is a very kind & understanding man. He genuinely cares about his patients. He has a very good bedside manner. He does what is best for his patients to keep them safe & to give them a healthy, happy recovery. I would refer anyone to him. He was a true God send for me.

My first impression of Dr Ray is that he is a bit odd. I mean that in a good way. He did not seem arrogant at all and seemed to be laid back. His office staff is friendly but very busy and I wish they had time to give you more one on one attention. Dr Ray stresses the importance of after care and encourages his patients to go to the support groups. I hope to attend the next one next month. He makes you take a test to ensure that you are aware of all of the risks. My surgery seemed to go okay. I was disappointed that he did not come back to check on me afterwards. He told my family that everything went fine, but I expected to see him again. The first shift nurses were very helpful, but I cannot say the same for the second shift. The LPN seemed to \"forget\" that I was a bariatric patient and offered me Sprite and a pain pill. I was told I could go home at about 6pm the same day as long as everything was fine, but I did not get to leave until 1030 - that night which by that time the pharmacy was closed. This really ticked me off. I just wanted an answer either way because I needed to make further rnarrangements for my kids. I think the nurses just forgot. Finally at about 830 I asked them to call Dr Ray and see what the deal was. Overall, I am pleased with Dr Ray so far. rnrnrn******UPDATE*******rnI went to the support group last week for LAP band patients and was very impressed to see both Dr Ray and Dr Colquit as well as the nutritionist there. They are so much more supportive than I orginally thought. They stay to answer questions and the nutrutionist Angie Stewart runs the group. What an awesome team!

Dr. Ray and his staff have been just fantastic. I went to several doctors in my area and I was most impressed with Dr. Ray. He took time to get to know me and make sure I was educated properly before agreeing to do my surgery. He worked with me, encouraged me on my weight loss and was very supportive. He prayed with me on my very first visit and each one there after. I feel so blessed to have found him and I feel that he wants to help people improve their lives and their health, not just collect a lot of money. The staff in his office, especially Mary and Jeanie are wonderful. They are very caring, supportive and compassionate. I am very very pleased with my surgeon and his staff. I have been approved for surgery and am waiting for a date right now, so I will write more after my surgery. As of now, this office comes HIGHLY recommended to anyone in the area.

My first impression of Dr. Ray was that he has such a calming feeling to him. He seems very compassionate to his patients and never once did I feel rushed by him.

Dr.Ray has a policy that you must lose 5-10% of your body weight depending upon what your BMI is. That helps in the surgery plus shows the doctor that you can and will buy into the mind set that this is a life changing event and you've gotta work for the results that you desire. They just don't happen on their own.

He also has an excellent aftercare program.I am just starting with him but so far I am VERY pleased with him.

Dr. Ray's office staff are wonderful. I live about an hour and forty five minutes away from Maryville where Dr. Ray's office is and was not aware that they are an hour ahead of Crossville where I live. I got to the office what I thought was thirty minutes early but as I glanced up at the clock on the wall to see what time I should write that I arrived I realised I was actually late. They took me in anyway and was VERY nice about doing so. Of course I apologised to them for the mistake. You can bet that won't happen again. Everyone there seemed very nice.
