My first impression of Dr. Eagon was that he was very "business like." He was very up front about possible complications and risks. His assistant, Donna, is wonderful and his office staff are all great and very supportive. Even though Dr. Eagon seemed a little "stiff", I was mostly concerned about his surgical capabilities. I think he is a very competent surgeon with a good bedside manner. As my treatment with him has progressed, his manner has become more relaxed - even joking with me. I am thankful that I was guided to Dr. Eagon for this surgery. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best) I would give Dr. Eagon, his assistant Donna, and the rest of the staff a 10.
First impression was that he seemed reserved and well informed. My impression did not change, my reverence for him only increased with time. His office staff was very friendly and went out of their way to answer any questions that I had. I loved everything about him, except that it took so long to get an appointment. He is a wonderful surgeon who really cares about the patient. Truly wants the patient to be healthy. He has a support group in his office and really emphasizes aftercare. His handouts and staff really motivated me to change my ways. (Not an easy task) He was very straightforward about the risks of surgery. I felt informed, yet in very capable hands. I would give him the highest rating. He has a terrific record, 100% non-leak rate. I did my research on surgeons before choosing him. He is the very best!
First impression was that he seemed quiet.
Dr. Eagon was great, good listener and answerred all of my questions in way that i could understand. Incision was nice and clean, not jagged or sloppy looking.
He addressed the risks and benefits of the surgery honestly and didn't appear to hold anything back.
I seen Dr. Eagon on 01-09-01. My first impression of him is that he is quiet, and seem's bashful. He is very professional though. He explained everything to me in great detail, about the surgery and the risk's. He made me feel comfortable. He is very caring. His office did seem to be very busy, as my appointment was 2 1/2 hours late. But, the office staff was very nice.
Dr. Eagon has a wonderful aftercare program. I would rate Dr. Eagon a 10!!!!!
12/4/00 Pscyh, Nutrition and Dr. Evals went
wonderful. I have to go through a sleep study
and then Dr. Eagon will send in my paperwork
to my insurance company. He estimates
that it will take 2 months for ins. approval
and than another 3 months before I am able to
get a surgery date. I personally hope not.
But, we will see.
To be continued. . .
10/19/00 My evaluation appointment with Dr. Eagon is on
11/28. I was fortunate to get in so early due
to a cancellation. Otherwise they told me when
I iniatially called to request a packet that
I would not be able to be seen until February.
I called in early September.
Someone told me that there were 300 people on the
waiting list. Who knows? I am just grateful
to God that He got me in for a Nov. appointment.
Dr. Eagon's office is located at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. My first impression of him was that he was knowledgeable, easy-going, affable, pleasant, and patient during my consult. He spent time going over all the information and risks involved with both a Lap and open RNY. He ensured that all my questions were answered, and was very accomodating to my particular needs. He does have a very thorough before and after care program, and therefore I rate him a "10".
His office staff was very pleasant and "together".
Post op: Dr. Eagon continues to show excellence in his health care delivery and bedside manner!! He is extremely attentive and patient, and takes time to ensure you are not rushed or have questions unanswered. He is knowledgeable and is easy to explain things. His nurse and staff are all the same! I rate him 1000%!!!!
Dr. Eagon was very good he seemed to be very attentive to my husband. We ask alot of questions and he answered the majority. We live in Springfield,IL and we are concerned that when he goes home monday that if something happenes we wouldn't have anyone there knowlegeable about the surgery but he eased are mind by saying that if anything was needed we could call his staff and have him paged and he would talk to the doctor there.
I met with Dr. Eagon today 11/07 and he was very friendly and informative! He gave me all the ins and outs of what to expect and told me I was a definite canidate for laprascopic surgery! He is sending me for a sleep apnea study, and wants the results before he sends my first letter to my insurance company.. more up dates later.
Dr Eagon, is very up front, easy to talk to and explains everything that will happen. He will take the time to talk to you,or your family. While I was in the hosp I usually saw him twice aday, his staff is the best, very knowledgeable, nice and always ready to help.I have had follow up appts. weekly x 2 weeks then every month.Since I live four hours away from Dr. Eagon he has set up after care with my family Doctor, and any problems I am to notify him immediatly. Dr. Eagon went over every risk and the percentages. I dont think that I could have had a better doctor, his competence, and bedside manner were excellent.
My first impression was that he is a rather intense and serious guy. He didn't laugh once at my jokes!! LOL
But, that's OK because he is VERY detail oriented (had to calculate my BMI to the 10,000th place!).
He and his nurse Donna took as long as I needed to answer questions and never seemed rushed.
I really liked the new information packet they have. It includes a sheet with all of the complications
associated with this surgery and the percentage that HIS patients have had. That is nice to see that vs. the national averages.
He is very well educated, teaches, does other gastric surgeries, and bariatric.
