Dr. George Woodman, Bariatric Surgeon George Woodman, MD is an experienced and respected bariatric surgeon dedicated to helping his patients to transform their lives through weight loss surgery. Board-certified, he is the founder of Midsouth Bariatrics located in Memphis and Jackson, Tennessee. Dr. Woodman’s expertise has led him to become the Director of Centers of Excellence at two major hospitals; Baptist Memorial Hospital Memphis and Methodist Hospital Germantown where all weight loss surgeries by Dr. Woodman are performed. Dr. Woodman graduated from Emory University and went on to earn his medical degree at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Woodman is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). Dr. Woodman has participated in multiple clinical trials involving devices designed as surgical or endoscopic procedures to assist in weight loss. His research has contributed to FDA approvals of several procedures including non-surgical balloon options. He has authored numerous abstracts and articles and continues to be at the forefront of bariatric techniques and technology.
