I found Dr Rehnke through this site. He seemed to be experienced and well liked by his patients. I went to 2 of his seminars where he spoke with patience and a lot of caring . He answered all questions completely and in laymans terms. I was really impressed. It took a long tome to get an appointment and his staff was always nice when I would call to see if there had been any cancellations. When I met Dr. Rehnke in his office he did not rush me at all and was very informative. He does feel that after care is very important and has help set up a program addressing this issue. I feel that I have made the right choice.
I think Dr. Rehnke is great. He listened to me, and let me ask as many questions as I wanted, then asked again if there was anything else I could think of.
He has monthly support group meetings, which he encourages everyone to attend to.
I will say that he is different from many surgeons in that his patients eat regular food before being discharged from the hospital. He wants his patients to experience the "negatives" early on (getting sick from eating that extra bite, or eating the wrong thing) in order to start training the brain that food is for sustenance, not pleasure.
Another thing, he wants his patients doing for themselves as soon as they go home from the hospital, (getting up to get water, go to the bathroom, prepare food, cleaning up after yourself, etc.)so that you are building your strength up and not just laying in bed all the time.
Dr. Rehnke was at the first group meeting I went to for his patients. What a wonderful man. So many people were there and so greatful to him for saving their lives. I was impressed with his sharp sense of humor. I mean some people asked him pretty silly questions, he just took it in stride and answered very kindly. He was so easy going. His operating room nurse was ther, and she was so nice even though we were warned she was the tougher one of the two of them. Dr. Lindsay the Psychologist also talked about the behavioral changes and why it is necess to be evaluated. I felt like I finally found my way home. This has to be it, because I can no longer fight. If Dr. Rehnke doesn't do this surgery, I feel like I don't want to try any more Doctors. First Doctor turned out to be an ass, and the second one was wonderful , but his hospital wouldn't accept my insurance. I pray so hard that this is in God's plan for me, I am in so much pain, mentally and physically. I will post again when I know more
I had my first consultation with Dr. Rehnke and liked him very much. I had already heard him speak at many support group meetings and liked him on first impression, but after meeting him one on one, he makes you feel like he really cares about you and people in general. His staff is very nice also. Only problem, waited two hours past my appointment time to be seen.
i was very impressed with him. It hasnt.
His office staff is very knowledgeable. I haven,t found anything to dislike about him. He did RNY procedure on my daughter and son-in-law also. I am paying cash for my SX and he drastically cut his fee for me. He has a great support group. He has a gret after care program and he takes the time to answer all questions. I would rate him as SUPERIOR in all catergories. The only negative thing i have to say is that he takes at least 6 months to get an appt. with.
My surgeon is Dr. Ernest Rehnke. I first met him at one of his support group meetings and was very impressed with him. Dr. Rehnke was very friendly and I introduced myself to him after the meeting and we chatted for a few minutes. He told me if I thought of any questions that I should make sure I wrote them down and brought them with me to my office visit. He has a great sense of humor and answers any and all questions you have. His office staff has always taken their time to answer my questions or return my phone call right away. When I met him for my first office visit he did not make me feel rushed - even asked me if I had any other questions for him and told me that if I thought of anything after I left just to call the office. He is very emphatic about the risks of the surgery and wants you to understand the risks involved.
I had my surgery on Aug. 27th, 2002 and I have to say that Dr. Rehnke's bedside manner it out of this world! I have never in my life met a doctor who is a caring as he is. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate him as a 20!!!
I just met him at a support group meeting that his office holds every month. I met the
psychologist that you see before surgery and also the psychologist that holds the support meetings for after surgery. I was extremely impressed by how much information they give you. He answered questions from the audience and was very nice and approachable. I was very happy with what I saw.
I went to see my surgeon on July 22. He was very straight forward letting me know the risks involved in this surgery. He is very patient. His office was extremly busy. But when he was in with me he did not rush or act like I was holding him up. He took as much time with me as I needed to ask all my questions. He answered all in easy terms and explained everythig I asked about. He made sure I had no unanswered questions. And made it very clear if I had any questions to just give his staff a call. His staff has also been very helpfull. Even though this is one of the busiest offices I have ever seen they all still take the time to help and answer any questions.
