He was wonderful, very explanitory, and learned. He made me feel comfortable and I was excited that Seeing I had alot already done in advance to my surgeon, about 9 months worth of work pre-op stuff, nutritionlist, psychiatric evaluation was already done and I was ok to move forward, Support meetings, Met with other Surgeons pror to him, I was very well knowledged in in advance and ready to go, I have a date for dec 20th I met with Dr.Valin on November 26th 2001- I have a date less than a month later. Awesome.
He is awesome, very young and well spoken and hey I liked him , after dealing with multi surgeons I must say he is a keeper, I had my appt on the 26th of november and I have surgery scheduled for december 20th..you tell me..he is well learned and a great bed side manner, If I was in a bed, I was sitting on a chair at the time.
Dr. Valin was very nice as well as informative and professional. He was late getting to the office due to surgery at the hospital. When he arrived at the front door of the office he was still dressed in his operating room garb! Shoes and all! I got a chuckle out of this. He explained everything to me as well as his concern over my past history of blood clots. He told me prior to surgery he wanted me to have a filter installed in my vein (or artery-I forget) in order to prevent any clots that could form, from passing into my lungs, heart or brain. He also told me I wasn't very big. This made me laugh more and liked him even more! LOL! My BMI is 48 so believe me I'm big!
I HAVE MET WITH DR. VALIN TWICE AND EACH TIME I HAVE FOUND HIM VERY INFORMATIVE, PROFESSIONAL & VERY KIND BUT AT THE SAME TIME VERY PROFESSIONAL WHICH GAVE ME A GREAT SENCE OF SECURITY ABOUT THE SURGERY. HE STAFF IS VERY COURTEOUS & FRIENDLY & WILLINGLY HELP YOU WITH THERE END OF INSURANCE PROCEDURES. SINCE I HAVENT HAD THE SURGERY YET I CANNOT COMMENT ON THE SURGICAL COMPETENCE OR BEDSIDE MANNER.
WELL THE SURGERY IS OVER. I CAN RECOMMEND DR. VALIN HIGHLY. HE IS KIND AND COMPASSIONATE AND WILL TAKE ALL THE TIME YOU NEED TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS OR TAME YOUR FEARS. ALONG WITH THIS HIS SKILLS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES. HE HAS TO BE A SPECIAL PERSON TO CHOOSE A FIELD THAT WOULD CHANGE OUR LIVES AND BETTER OUR SPIRITS. GOD BLESS YOU DR. V.
Dr. Valin seemed real nice. He answered all my questions. He also explained the procedure thoroughly. He made me feel real comfortable. Everyone in the office seemed real nice especially cecille. I'd recommend him to anyone having this surgery. I went to see Dr. Valin for the second time I now have a surgery date!
I was, like alot of other people, surprised at how young he is/looks! He was very attentive to me and on my first visit asked me what I knew about the surgery. I shared what I knew from the internet and he showed me a tiny bottle and said that after surgery my stomach will be this size. He was very thorough in letting me know everything good/bad. I had to next go to Diana Rosa, the nutritionist and she was also very helpful and understanding. I next went to see Mark Gaynor, psychologist. He's a toughie! But I liked that. He almost seemed to purposely try to scare me - but I didn't budge because I knew that this is for me. Since he had RNY surgery, it was helpful to hear what he had to say. What I've learned is that "everyone is different" so what I'm told you have to take everyone's experience lightly as you may have different reactions, particularly with what foods you can/cannot handle, your moods, etc. I had the pre-op testing at St. Raphael's. Again, everyone at the hospital was very outgoing and nice. I had to wait a while in the registration area to get my blood drawn/chest x-rays so plan to hang out for an hour (you may get a good day though..). Then after that I went straight down to get the endoscopy. A nurse brought me to a changing room and discussed everything about the procedure. I then changed and then put me in a bed and got an IV going. People around me (who had the same thing) were snoozing away & snoring! Dr Valin came in and said i'd be doing that too (sorry to disappoint him but....I woke right up after the procedure). I did not feel a thing! I couldn't believe even Dr. Valin was doing the endoscopy (I thought it would be a technician). He rolled me into one of the procedure rooms and I noticed a small TV near me. He then sprayed this super-intense tasting Chloraseptic into my mouth and I swallowed. Kinda yucky but not where you feel you're going to throw up. He had to do it twice for me. Then I think I got knocked out and before I knew it, I heard him talking and taking something out of my mouth. Again, I didn't feel a thing. I hope surgery goes this well.... So far, I've been very pleased with all the people and the hospital.
His staff is great!!! Very curtious and professional. I spoke with his wife who treated me like she known me forever. Then came the moment I was waiting for I met the famous Dr. Valin. Oh, he was the nicest Dr. Very, very informative. Answered all of our questions. Some Dr.s don't alway treat the spouce with respect. But he answered all of, both of our questions. I can't wait to meet him again.
I decided to keep my appt with Dr Valin and I am gald I did, he is nice and very informative. We even laughed a bit. Told me I would be a good canditate for the Lap surgery. The office staff was nice, the office itself needs to be updated but who cares about the office!!! I also like the fact that they have folders all ready with tons of info!!!
