I absolutely love Dr. Graham and his staff. I have surgery 12/2/11 and have had nothing bad to say about anyone at Sanford Surgical Associates. He is very knowledgable and answers all of my questions, very competent, his nursing staff is so supportive and encouraging. Stephanie is new (insurance Stephanie) and did a great job getting me approved. From start to surgery date it will be less than 3 months. Granted, part of that is my insurance as well. But I feel 200% comfortable having my surgery with Dr. Graham and at Sanford Health. I'm SO happy I chose him for my Dr and this path!
Dr. Graham performed my revision on 1-5-11. He lengthened my Roux limb to make malabsorption so I could continue to lose weight and also so my acid reflux would go away. I also had several hernias that he repaired at the same time. This was a bit tougher surgery than my original RNY because of the hernias. Recovery has been a bit longer, but I feel awesome! I am slowly getting back to my exercise routine and enjoying life again! I would recommend Dr. Graham to anyone considering weight loss surgery. He is a really skilled surgeon!
Dr. Graham has a very reserved personality, but his caring shines through.rnHis nurse, Sheryl is the most amazing woman. She has answers to questions I didn't even know to ask.rnDr. Graham was very frank about his skill and the complications of past clients. He did not try to cover up difficulties others had after surgery.rnI have had NO complications and have felt great since my surgery.
My first impression of Dr.Graham is that he was great. Informative and professional. Any time I had to go into his office he greeted me and spent time with me answering any of my questions. Over time my impression of him has gotten better. He's incredible and the best. His office staff are wonderful. Sheryl especially. She worked hard to get me on the table when I wanted and did not seem frustrated with my zillion calls or questions. Future patients should expect a great experience from Dr. Graham and his staff. His emphasis on aftercare is phenomenal. He addressed all surgery risks and invited me to his support group. I rate him 10 out of 10 and his surgical competence and bedside manner are impeccable. With such a serious procedure I can't imagine having gone to anyone else.rn
Dr. Graham didn't leave a great first impression, but I am glad I stuck around. My first appointment started off dismally. I had to wait over 1.5 hours as he'd had emergency surgery, then when I first saw him I was so disappointed. He was quiet, somewhat aloof, and just not what I expected. Then we started to talk.rnI was so pleasantly surprised. He took the time to listen to me and to explain the different options available to me. He explained what and how things would progress and even drew diagrams. We talked over the pros and cons and he wasn't offended when I asked if he'd ever \"lost\" anyone. Instead he answered each question truthfully and completely. When he left the office, I was confident in him and assured that I was making a good decision. rnA real plus to the experience is Sheryl, his nurse. She is so good about answering questions, working with the insurance, fielding my concerns and just making me feel special. rnIf you are looking for a dynamic, stong doctor, perhaps Dr. Graham is not your doctor. If you are looking for a competent, confident doctor who will treat you with respect, this is your doctor. rnSioux Valley Hospital has been very good with their pre op classes and post op support groups. All in all this has been a good experience.
My first impression of Dr. Graham was that he seemed a bit aloof. . . I realized over time that it's his perfectionist and very clinical nature. However, clinical in nature does not mean he lacks bedside manner. He was very good and I would recommend him favorably. His nurse Cheryl is the absolute best! (Talk about "behind every good man is a great woman!" I think she really keeps things on track for him so he can concentrate on his skills as a surgeon, rather than having to mess with office-type stuff. As far as aftercare, he keeps telling me I'm doing well! There was a discrepancy between what he was telling me and what the nutritionist was telling me at my 8 week checkup. I think he's more lax than the nutritionists would like to see. (He told me I could drink a diet coke if I wanted to, and the nutritionist said that was a big no-no. Also, when I asked him, he gave me permission to eat popcorn, but the nutritionist said that was too scratchy and not nutritious enough to warrant eating. There were a few things like that, but I think he feels if you're doing it in moderation, you aren't going to ruin your surgery.) He did address the risks of surgery with me and was completely upfront with me on his past record, past complictions that his patients have had, etc. I like that honesty. Overall, I rate him very very favorably. His surgical skills are top-notch, and he's considered THE authority on gastric bypass surgery in Sioux Falls, as far as I'm concerned.
Awesome Doctor. Very knowledgeable. The staff are very helpful and friendly. He was very quick with his initial appointment, but there wasn't much to discuss other than I need the surgery and what kind I am interested in. He seemed very caring and thorough. My husband was there as well as my kids (this is a family situation) and he seemed to appreciate that. He has done these types of WLS for over 25 years. I have faith in him and he seems confident. I don't know if I walked out with all of my questions answered. I didn't think of some of them until I left the office. I was told by the front desk that I could call at any time with any questions I had. I felt kind of rushed. I guess I was expecting him to ask more questions than he did.
