Celio Burrowes Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

What was your first impression of him/her?
Dr. Celio was very forth coming with information in my consultation he explained all the procedures he preformed and the pros and cons of each. He spent a lot of time with my family. My husband asked questions and Doc answered all his questions without seeming put off by them. My daughters were with me and he allowed all of us to come into the room even though space was tight and I appreciate that. My little daughters had a couple of questions about if I would be alright and he answered those as well. He seems to be a family man, a caring man and my husband walked away feeling as though I was in good hands…. What a blessing.
How did your impression change over time?
My impression has not changed because I have only seen him once.
How would you describe his/her office staff?
My first impression was his staff nice people and seemed very helpful. A little on the "James Bond" side with information I felt like I had to pull things out of the office manager however she is a nice person. Someone from his staff called me six months later to see if my insurance had changed and when I said no (very pitifully) she seemed empathic and that made me feel better to see that she cared.

He gives you his time.

How did he/she address the risks of surgery?
We will do more of that at my second appointment.

Which is better, surgical competence, bedside manner, or are both great?
I believe that as a healthcare provider it is their job to do all that they can to be both. Most of this type of business I believe is word of month, my sister recommended Dr. Celio and if she did not like him I would not have given him or his staff the time of day.

Dr. Burrowes is very straight forward, but confident. I learned after talking with a lot of his patients, that is what I needed. He wants to make sure you're sure about the surgery. The office staff is very knowledgable and helpful.

My first impression of Dr. Burrowes was a good one. He explained the entire process from beginning to end. He didn't sugarcoat anything and I respect that.

When I had my initial consult back in 2004, I thought his office staff was OK, but could have been better about answering questions and returning phone calls, but I have to realize I'm not his only patient.
Now, they're even better. I spoke with Marilyn and she was great! She answered all of my questions and promptly faxed the information that I had asked for.

My first impression of Dr. Burrowes was that he was very knowlegeable and thorough. He gave me all the pros and cons of the surgery. I like the fact that after giving me all the facts, he advised me that the choice was mine. He did not try to convince me to have the surgery. He emphasized doing your own research. He showed a video of the actual procedure. His staff was extremely friendly and professional.

When I first met Dr. B, he was great! He was very straight forward and to the point. Everything I had heard about him. Everyone is his office has been great so far. They are very helpful and don't seem to mind that this is all new to me.

Dr. B, was very insistant that I follow his directions to the fullest. I have to do everything exactly as he says to do it. He gave me a list of things that I had to complete before his office would even contact my insurance company for approval. I did everything just as they said and my approval came within one week.

Dr. B is very serious about meeting with him after surgery to stay on top of anything that may happen or could happen.

He spoke very openly with us about the risks involved with this surgery. I just feel very comfortable with him.

MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR. BURROWES WAS SERIOUS. HE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND KIND, HE COMES OFF AS ONE WHOM IS SERIOUS ABOUT HIS WORK AND WITH HELPING YOU IMPROVE YOUR QUALITY OF LIFE. HE DIDN'T SEEM LIKE HE WAS JUST ABOUT GETTING MONEY HE WAS REALLY GENIUNE. I FELT VERY COMFORTABLE WITH HIM AND HE CALMED MY NERVE ABOUT BEING ANXIOUS.HIS STAFF WAS NICE THE LADY AT THE FRONT DESK WAS VERY NICE.I REALLY APPRECIATE THE FACT THAT HE MAKES SURE YOU'RE TESTED FROM HEAD TO TOE TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE READY FOR THIS LIFE CHANGE I RATE HIM A DEFINITE 10

My first impression was that he really cared about his patients and that he loved his profession. Any fear I had going into this faded quickly. His office staff is wonderful except for 1 person, who shall remain nameless. She is not a warm person and gives a very bad 1,2,3,4,5 impression. She doesn't know how to talk to people and is just down right rude. Future patients when you meet her you will know exactly who I am talking about, with her hard accent. The meetings before and after the surgery are very helpfull because you are getting both sides of the reality good and bad. After surgery the angels call you, mine is Joys and she is excellent. She herself has had the surgery and in my opinion is truly a succes story. My overall surgery and healing process have gone very well. Besides not being able to sleep on my stomach it wasnt that bad. i recommend it to anyone that has battled with there weight as long as I have. I also recommend Dr. Burrowes, he is an excellent doctor and my scat is already disappearing.

Dr.Burrowes and his staff are wonderful!! They are truly caring about their patients. I would recommend Dr. Burrowes to anyone who is considering having the gastric bypass. I know several other of his patients personally and all of them have nothing but praise when they talk about Dr. Burrowes. I don't think I can say "thankyou" enough to him and his staff...

The consenus about Dr. Burrowes is correct. He is serious and he knows a lot. He shows a geninuine interest in your story and supports you in your quest for WLS. I liked him straight off the bat, I even got him to crack a smile LOL.

I'm still going through the process so I will fill you guys in on what happens next with Dr. Burrowes later. Hopefully I can get a approved soon.

My first impression of Dr. Burrowes was that he was a serious man. He wanted to be sure that I understood everything about the pros and cons of the surgery. He told me things that I should expect out of the surgery and that it was a tool not a solution for my problem. He was very truthful with the entire process.

Dr. Burrowes is not a very humerous man, so if you jokes and a lot of laughter to make you feel comfortable with him... you wont get it! He is serious about the surgery and gets to the point.

He seems like he genuinely cares about his patients. He places alot of emphasizes on before and aftercare. He has a very structured program and expects you to follow it. He address all the risks of the surgery.

Overall on a scale of one to ten, I would give Dr. Burrowes an 11 1/2. He is wonderful and has helped me to get the tool I need to began a new life.
