Minimally Invasive General & Bariatric Surgery Dr. Avishai Meyer, MD, FACS, is a board-certified general and bariatric surgeon joining our team from Medstar Franklin Square Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Upon completing his undergraduate and graduate degree at the University of Maryland, Dr. Meyer went on to earn his Medical Degree at Sackler School of Medicine. He completed his residencies at the University of Colorado Hospital, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he was nominated by his peers and was awarded for his Excellence in Teaching. Dr. Meyer continued to The University of Nebraska in advanced fellowship training in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery devoting his time to treating his patients to advance his technique through experiences and research. He currently participates in numerous research projects, publications, and presentations today. Dr. Meyer takes a thorough and precise approach to his consultations to ensure that he is consistently giving accurate diagnoses and is committed to the well-being of his patients. Dr. Meyer is currently seeing patients for Minimally Invasive Bariatric (gastric bypass, lap band, gastric sleeve, and revisions of bariatric procedures) and General Surgery. Dr. Meyer specializes in general laparoscopic procedures including repair of groin hernias, ventral and hiatal hernias, surgical treatment of gallbladder, solid organ, small and large intestinal diseases, peritoneal dialysis catheter placements, and excision of benign and malignant mass and cysts. Dr. Meyer also provides services for upper endoscopy procedures including screening upper endoscopy, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube placements, stents, and esophageal dilations.
