Had a vertical sleeve gastrectomy after much consideration about which procedure would be best for me. Dr. Andrea and his staff are very caring and considerate for a patient population usually looked down upon by other doctors. Medical clearance was thorough and fast, surgery day came almost without a warning. Surgery went well, with no complications. After a two day hospital stay, I was recovering at home. Pain experienced, although subjective, has been minimal. I work full time to support my elderly parents, and was able to go back to work withing a week and a half's time as a nurse. After years of failure at weight loss, I finally hasve hope that this procedure will bring me success. Thank you Dr. Andrei and his wonderful staff.
I couldn't wait to have my surgery, although it was scary leading up to the surgery itself. Everyone involved with Dr Andrei is so helpful and friendly.....wonderful even!rnDr Andrei, himself, is thorough and fabulous. From my first time meeting him, to the operating room. Dr. Andrei and his staff have called since my surgery and have answered any questions i've had...which were few because of the thorough preparation pre op.rnrnI'd do it all over again with Dr.Andrei...too bad he just does bariatrics!
Original lapband 4+yrs ago...very successful, lost 70+lbs within 6 mos which I kept off without difficulty over past years. Started experiencing terrible indigestion after 4 yrs post op as I had prolapsed. I had to have fluid taken out of my band, and gained approx 12lbs back. After I replaced lapband 6 weeks ago I relost the 12lbs and feel great! I was under impression that this would last for life, and was amazed that after 4 yrs of feeling great, this happened. My goal now is to lose another 30 lbs and keep my band for the rest of my life!
Not even three weeks post op but I'm feeling different already. I've lost 24 lbs and although I have to wrap my head around the fact that 24 lbs is pretty darned good, I keep expecting more! I originally had lapband surgery with Dr. Andrei, but that didn't work very well for me. As I had a prolapse on top of the band, it was removed and I decided to do the gastric bypass. The surgery went well and the only discomfort I felt was the gas pains shooting across my back and shoulders. However, even that was tolerated because I did the deep breathing and walking.rnI am very pleased with Dr. Andrei and his staff. They are so helpful and caring and actually listen when you talk! I never feel like I'm being ignored or dismissed!rnI am going to take pictures every month to see the difference. When I look in the mirror, It's hard for me to see the changes. My clothing, however, tells a different story. I am already one size down and some of the clothing that fit very comfortably 24 lbs. ago, have got to be given away!rnYesterday a woman came into my office that hadn't seen me since the end of June. Her immediate reaction was \"Oh my God, you've lost weight!\" I can't tell you how good that felt! Sometimes you need someone else to assure you that you are indeed losing weight because the scale can be frightening!rnI've experienced some nausea after I eat but perhaps it is because I am going over the 4 ounces. I'm going to be very diligent measuring and see if that makes a difference. I never felt like throwing up, just nausea for about a half hour after I eat. Again, I'm not even three weeks after surgery, so my innards are probably still swolen!rnMy need to alleviate pain in my back and knees overcame my fear of having surgery and I must say, I'm glad I did!
