Dr. Patricia Cherasard is the Chief Physician Assistant for Winthrop Surgical Associates and Bariatric Surgery at NYU Health's NYU Winthrop Hospital. She received her Bachelor's Degree from St. John's University in Biological Science and completed the Physician Assistant Program at Catholic Medical Center (currently known as St. John's University PA Program). She received her Master in Business Administration from Metropolitan College of New York. She received her Doctorate in Health Science from Keiser University. She maintains current certification with the NCCPA and is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). She has been a Physician Assistant with a focus in weight loss surgery for 20 years and has completed several advanced courses offered by American College of Surgeons and American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
As the Chief Bariatric Surgical PA her special medical interests include first assisting in minimally invasive surgery including weight loss surgery, general surgery, advance laparoscopy and Robotic Surgery. She is actively involved in the day-to-day operations of NYU Winthrop Hospital’s bariatric surgery practice. Her role in the perioperative period of our bariatric surgical patient population includes guidance in the preparation for weight loss surgery, helping to attain their weight loss goals, and maintenance of their weight loss as well as improved health outcomes. In addition, she is actively involved in the MIS/Bariatric Fellowship program, and sits on the quality improvement community for bariatric surgery at NYU Winthrop Hospital.
She has co authored in many research studies published through Winthrop Surgical Associates, and recently received her Doctorate in Business Administration with a focus on Health Science from Keiser University .
