Janet Borra Dietitian / Nutritionist RD

Janet obtained her Bachelors of Science degree in Dietetics from SUNY Oneonta and completed her dietetic internship at Danbury Hospital in Connecticut. Janet has been a registered dietitian for 20 years and has been working with bariatric patients in the outpatient setting for the past 11 years. Prior to that, she worked at Westchester Medical Center for 9 years and covered the burn center, neuro ICU, trauma ICU and trauma floor. Part of her patient population included the bariatric patients. She has worked with bariatric patients both inpatient and outpatient for 20 years. In addition to counseling patients, Janet teaches a class post operatively and provides diet education to our patients. Janet helps write the blogs for our NYGETFIT website. Janet has spoken at some of our educational conferences in the past. We hold a bi-monthly support group which Janet helps the bariatric coordinator facilitate. She feels the most rewarding part of her job is seeing the changes people make both pre- and post-op and how patient’s lives are changed and are effected by the surgery. She feels it is a pleasure to know she is a part of that process.
