Monali Misra Bariatric Surgeon MD, FRCSC, FACS, FASMBS

Dr. Monali Misra is a highly experienced and skilled bariatric and advanced laparoscopic surgeon who has recently relocated her practice from Canada to Los Angeles, California. Dr. Misra is a board-certified surgeon both in the United States and Canada, and was formerly the Co-Director of the Bariatric Surgery program and Associate Director for the Center of Minimal Access Surgery (CMAS) and CTU Director for Senior Medical Students at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton, ON, Canada. She was also the Director and Co-Founder of the Canadian Institute of Bariatric Options (CIBO).  Since completing her training, Dr. Misra has performed over 4,000 of advanced laparoscopic, bariatric and endoscopic procedures. She is currently the Associate Director of the Bariatric Program at Marina Del Rey Hospital, a respected and well known bariatric center within costal Los Angeles, which has earned the prestigious Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence designation. She performs the following procedures: laparoscopic gastric banding, laparoscopic Roux en Y gastric bypass, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, intragastric balloon,  and revisional surgeries. Dr. Misra is a pioneer in the use of the SPIDER single incision surgical procedure, which is less invasive and leaves fewer and less noticeable scars than traditional laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Misra is an experienced educator performing live tele-surgeries and lecturing to other laparoscopie surgeons and surgeons in training, she  has presented her research findings at numerous national and international meetings on advanced laparoscopic techniques and metabolic surgeries.
