Dr. Ismael Cabrera, Bariatric Surgeon Ismael Cabrera Garcia, MD is a world-class, board-certified bariatric surgeon practicing at Stop Obesity in the beautiful city of Tijuana, Mexico just south of the California border. He earned his medical degree at the Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla (UPAEP) in Puebla, México and went on to specialize in General and Digestive Surgery at IMSS Hospital Specialty General Surgery Northeast UMAE 25. He then completed a Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopy and has trained extensively in both Mexico and the United States. Dr. Cabrera has earned numerous certifications including a one-year certification from world-renowned bariatric surgeon, Dr. Kelvin Higa at Fresno Surgical Hospital. He is certified by the Mexico College of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgeons (CMCOEM, AC) and the Mexican Council of General Surgeons (CMCG, AC). He also attends national and international bariatric and metabolic conferences on a regular basis and hosts bariatric education seminars throughout the US and Canada.
