James Pitt Bariatric Surgeon D.O.

James B. Pitt, D.O. graduated from Northeast Missouri State University and attended Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine where he received his Doctorate in 1988. He served his internship and general surgery residency at Kirksville Osteopathic Medicine. He is board certified in General Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. In 1993, Dr. Pitt opened an office of Columbia Surgical Associates in Osage Beach, Missouri and built a large general surgery practice. He helped the Lake Ozark General Hospital attain trauma center designation and introduced advanced laparoscopic procedures to that institution. In 2000, he joined his partners in the Columbia office where he has continued to be a leader in advanced laparoscopic procedures. While currently only offering laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding, Dr. Pitt has performed many open and laparoscopic bariatric surgeries since 2001. Dr. Pitt is a native of Iowa. He is married and has 3 children and 1 granddaughter. He enjoys sporting events and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter.
