Dr. Andras Sandor, Bariatric Surgeon Andras Sandor, MD, FACS, FASMBS is a nationally recognized bariatric and general surgeon specializing in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery at the Commonwealth Weight Loss Center located in historical Stoneham, Massachusetts. Dr. Sandor earned his medical degree from the Semmelweis University of Budapest in his birthplace of Hungry in 1992. He went on to complete surgical training at Imre Haynal University of Health Sciences of Budapest. From there he began his research studies at the Department of Surgery of Yale Medical School where he spent three years as a postdoctoral associate. He then completed a two-year research fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery at the UMASS EndoSurgery Center and served as Teaching Faculty at the Learning Center of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). Dr. Sandor completed his residency in general surgery at the University of Massachusetts Medical School where he served as Chief Resident in Surgery and where he also completed a fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery. Board-certified, Dr. Sandor is a member of the Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (FASMBS), the American College of Surgeons (ACS), the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), and the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT). As a dedicated researcher, Dr. Sandor has co-authored seven book chapters, more than 30 publications and has presented at numerous national and international scientific conferences. He has held several prestigious positions and is currently the Clinical Assistant Professor at Tufts Medical School where he teaches surgical residents and medical students.
